Furniture-styled Ironrite

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

This is exactally like the one an Aunt of mine had set in the dining room. Ours was the white metal cabinet and was in our kitchen area. My mother could really whip out the ironing with ours. She followed the Monday washday and Tuesday iron day back then when all 4 of us kids were at home.

Finally, an Ironrite in Texas.
You normally don't see many of these down here.
When I was growing up you'd normally see these in the kitchen in white as Westie2 indicated.

If you think your parents would shoo you away from a wringer washer, they made you go out an play when the "mangle" was in use!

If I'm correct, the whole cabinet is metal painted to look like wood, I know the base is definately metal. I have a Kenmore & use it all the time, mine has a swing out light too.

Ironrite "Furniture" Designs

Yes, the ironers were wood, but the cabinet was metal.

These various units including those that resembed "Hi-Fi" cabinets were Ironrite's answer to housewives that didn't have separate laundry areas and or room for the huge white models. OTHO some of the furniture designs did not have casters, so they could not be easily shifted about.

Many housewives and others did not like the wood furniture models of Ironrites out of sanitary concerns. Wood isn't exactly the thing to be in contact with hot and or damp laundry.
