Thank you, Jon. Can't wait to come to Portland, and you&

I've been in a wonderful trance or flow for hours. I've finally mastered this after 2&1/2 years of struggle. Except for loosing Urk, It was bliss.

Ah! There's the ice I wanted--crushed to make a huge Manhattan

Cocktails--you read my mind--COME ON DOWN, Greg

I was off line for 3+weeks, returned to hear you say something about high June days; hence the dedication. Is something planned that I missed? I want to come!

Robert Perdue (a.k.a. "Lady Kenmore") here in Roanoke, always refers to those old aluminum (Unimatic) detergent columns as a "salt shaker"! Made to look even more so if one has the original type aluminum cap!

One of my WO-65-2's stays hooked up and ready. Now that summer is here it becomes more of a "daily driver" as shorts and short-sleeves make up most of the laundry.

I suppose it could be argued that the 'Noge agitator was the original "Jet-Action" type! I never saw those at all and think they would have been great in the automatic machines! Move those jets towards the top of the column for a "Jet-Away" overflow rinse! No need for a filter-pan!

Just out of curiosity----does the wringer machine have the long, slow, stroke of the automatic? (Breaks me out in a sweat!)

Oh, Mickey ... your Norge AND your Unimatic are absolutely wonderful!! The best of both worlds ... THANK YOU so much for sharing those with us!!

A BRAND NEW NORGE WRINGER; how lucky can a guy be?? :-) Please, please, tell us what the oval sticker on the front of the machine says ... word for word. I think it has something to do with "Deep Rinsing", am I right? Did you get a manual with it, too? What a dream!!! What does the presoak cycle do? I'm sure the "HOLD" is for wringing, right? It keeps the motor running.

That Unimatic is sweet, also. I always am amazed at Robert's machines; that model was pretty quiet and the spin is FANTASTIC. More quiet than say the 1-18; those were the "boom, boom, boom" machines, as I put it! Growing up, my neighbors had an early 1960's model in their breezeway and you could hear the "boom, boom, boom" from down the block!! :-)

Love the story ... especially with your Mom included! That's about what my Mom would say, too. "What are you going to do with another washing machine? Don't you have enough already? There are other things you can do with your money!" :-) Gotta love our Moms!! Just tell her you needed the machines to clean everything up after you finish staining the deck!!

Your place is beautiful and right on the water, too. Boy that view! I would have a set of double tubs set up and would be doing my washing right there on the deck!!

Oh ... and I would have a little cocktail with all that ice, too. Instead of a Manhattan, I'll have a gin and tonic please; with LOTS of ice and lots of lime!! :-)

Thanks again for sharing ...

Agitator question

That is one mean looking agitator on that wringer!
I'm sure it got the job done.
My question is, growing up my grandmother had a wringer with an agitator sota like this one.
It had three angle wings but the holes ran down the edges of each of the three fins.
It really moved the water without splashing.
I think it was called a wash well wringer? Anyone heard of that name before?
Did Norge have anything that sounded or looked like that?I know she had a time line dryer.

RPM-I think that would be the Apex Dasher, something I've dreamed of seeing in operation. Were the wings curved or spiraled? Wait.....I think the Dasher has only two spiraling fins with holes running up and down. Oh well, I love them all.

GEOFF- You'll just die when you hear this. I DO wash on the deck, in a MAYTAG no less, but it's the portable. Rigging the lid, you can do a phantasmagoric spray rinse with the garden hose nozzle. This summer, I'm going to use the Norge with its fantastical advertising claims--even back then when things were more honest(?)--of a "NORGE.......Automatic......DEEP POWER RINSE....Lets you wash and rinse in the same tub....Saves Soap..Saves Times..Saves Water..Saves Work..no extra rinse tubs needed..." The dots (ellipsis) here show each new line on the sticker. The "Saves" line has each phrase bulleted. Each line also has a cool water wave in it.

What you do is wash a few loads, drain the used washing liquors, refill with fresh rinse water, then--and now for the "deep" part of the rinse--you open the drain so the pump keeps blasting the the water back into the tub. Automatic because you set the timer, so everything shuts off, when the time is up. I f we could find a booklet, that would be the bomb!!!!!!

Because the water gets so warm here, I can wash almost anything outside, filling from the garden hose. I intend to use the Norge Automatic Cycles. The Pre-wash is great because it washes for a few minutes then soaks indefinitely, you come back, let it wash for whatever, etc. Using only Tide W Bleach Powder, all the blueberry and BBQ stains came out of my T-shirt. It all in the soak

OH STEVE--wait till you see what the Paddled Wonder does in a fast stroke Speed Queen. When my videographer friend gets back from Iraq we're going to shoot the Spanker in the Queen; it will be almost unbelievable. Just imagine what that thing is capable of at high speeds.... MARRDDDDOOONNEEE (MAHR DOAN) Look in the photo at the tabs. They're on both sides of each paddle. Are they just an engineer's fetish, or to they serve a function.

I always though it looked like a salt shaker too.

Geoff& Steve: the UNI is so quiet, almost a whisper. I was shocked into disbelief at its near silence. The Norge is also a whisper jet; all you hear is the squish slosh of the jets. Even at a full Geoff fill, they work.

ROBERT. I love you, too, always and forever.

FA- the very rare Maytag timer did not shut the machine off; it just stopped the agitation.

STEVE & EUGENE & JON & GREG- When I read the thread before bed and realized that you had become part of the story, I chuckled with delight--made my day, and not because it made the story all-so-post-modern, but because it was so funny and wonderful. Thank you so much!!!!!

THE LAST AND FINAL WRINGGGUEGINGGUE ;'DDD

Of course.

Greg G1 Gansky christened this as the month of high times & heady days of June, and indeed I'll do my part, the best of which is a dark comedy called,
"The Secret in the Garage," a wonderful surprise for Gregm and Jetcone and
Ben who are the main characters along with the fictional Hyacinth Bouquet, and Blackjack Skuhall.

HINT: Royal Doultons!!!

And I can't wait for my friend Dennis to come home so we can make movies full of talk and washer sounds and jokes so Laundryshark can have a ball along with everyone else.

Great looking machines Mike!! And thank you for the story, and the fantastic photos!! You have a great view of Lake Erie!
