When me an mom are on the phone talking about the old days and life growing up at my house I always ask her about different things we had. At 90 she still remembers more than me at 57 !!! When the subject comes up about the TVs or washing machines we had I remember a Whirlpool with a chrome top on the agitator and the chrome lint filter with the glass on it you could see the water flowing through. She always remembers the Filter-Flo machine. Last time we talked about it she said it had a copper basket or lint screen. Is this possible? If so was this a 50's machine? I think the Whirlpool as 60's or 70's and after it died we got a mid 80's Kenmore large capacity washer and matching gas drier, our first drier ever.

Yes, it was anodized aluminum. I found one in the junk pile behind the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Sarasota--more of a treasure than anything I found inside. The little nubs on the collar on the Activator held these pans in place but when the little nubs wore down the pan did not sit level when the water was being pumped into it. These pans were phased out for the plastic pans that fit over the top of the Activator and gave better protection against moisture to the top of the transmission, especially with the one piece Activators.
