Read in a GE hydrowave manual:
Damage to the product caused by accident, fire, floods
or acts of God.

Well what are acts of God. I thought we were that civilised to know that God is only something to believe in and not someone that causes washers to break?

Or has God a GE-Washer to wash his undies and curtains?

Common Phrase

Also found in insurance policy clauses and such.

Phrase is a legal term which covers any manifestation of a sudden event which causes damage, such as lightening, hail, flash floods, earthquakes and so forth.

For instance it is common for ships and other water vessels not to be insured against "acts of god" such as a sinking during a hurricane or sudden storm, however think it is possible to purchase a wavier or something to cover such events, but would be at a high cost.

CONservative governMENt

IIRC, right after the attacks of 9/11, USA President G.W. Bush related the event to something akin to an act of war.

The insurance companies were ECSTATIC; all bets are off due to acts of war. [i.e. NO INSURANCE LIABILTY]. That whole statement was QUICKLY rescinded and rephrased!

Because if PRIVATE insurance companies are not resposible, then Govenment would have to step into ensure order and rebuilding.......

BTW here, warranties and guarantees vary state-by-state in what they may and may NOT say; many exclsuions and limitations may or may not apply.

Businesses move to various states (just before Mexico or China) due to variations in the law. Simplest example is credit card companies moving to states [ND or SD] where there is no limit or (extremely high limit) on consumer interest rates......
