The price-to-compare went up a tad as did the demand(capacity charge) from this time last year.

Looking back, the highest I paid was $58 and some change. I guess these new fangled 96 percent AFUE furnaces really do pay off! Until something breaks that is!
 
"Until something breaks" could be important!

 

And, of course, how much of the savings are the furnace, and how much are other factors, such as insulation, etc? I know someone who went from a heat pump in one place to forced air electric in a bigger place. You'd expect the electric bill to rise--but it went down. The bigger place had much better insulation.

I also educated myself on how to replace the flame sensor and the igniter, two very commonly replaced parts on a Goodman union made furnace.
 
I signed up for budget billing way back in 2000 or 2001 when gas prices soared and people were getting $300-400 gas bills. They average my bill over the whole year so I pay pretty much the same every month. It makes things so much easier to plan for.
