GAS CRISIS!!!

Hello Everyone,
Who else out in Applianceville is suffering, and getting worried about the gas crisis?
It is near impossible to find gas in the Atlanta area! I filled up both of my cars on Friday, but had to drive 20 miles to do so. Several friends from the Atlanta area have called me to ask if we have gas in my area, because they can't find a single station with gas. Out of approximately 40 gas stations in my area alone, about 2 have gas. The lines are down the street in both directions.
Everywhere you go you see cars alongside of the road that obviously ran out of gas.
Has it hit your area yet?
Of course I am happy that I have gas, but I can't stop thinking about if there was a terrible crises that caused an evacuation! I would say 3/4 of people would not be able to leave.
Dang! I am going to have to stop running the roads!!!!

Wow! We haven't seen that here. I paid $3.51 yesterday, down from $3.89 a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was getting better.

That is a good price! (but is it really?)
When I found gas, it was at Quick Trip, and it was $4.10.
In Hapeville Georgia, there is a Texaco that closed years ago. The marquee is still up with the gas prices at the time. Super Unleaded was $1.08! Those days are gone. Funny part about this, I remember complaining when Super Unleaded was this price.

5 gas stations near our house are out...
I saw a price at $3.93 tonight.

Ya know, I am sorry the SE is having this problem because of gas production and distribution problems. And God knows with Atlanta's notorious grid lock, hundreds of thousands of gallons of gas are wasted in traffic jams. Yes, I was grateful there was milk at the grocery store today, I actually wasn't expecfting to see any again this week. But I need to remind you, despite the huge inconvenicne this is causing, theer are school districts closed still because of building damage and or no electricity. People have lost everything they own, in some cases including their dwellings. Not to mention, some have lost even their livelihoods and will have to start completely over. As Todd warned me, every one will forget about all those who will suffer for months, maybe well over 12 months, just like Katrina. Gee Texas gave us Bushes and gas shortages. Maybe Texas should just secceed from the nation and become its own nation again. And take our disdained President, oil & natural gas production, NASA, major cell phone technology and electronics, HP & Dell Computer companies--after all Texas gave you Compaq Computer as well as the integrated circuit and thermal printing technology and oil & gas exploration technology. And lets not forget all the consumer stuff that came from the Space Race.

We're paying about 1.13 Cdn per liter which equals about 4.28 Cdn per US gallon or $4.08 US per gallon at todays exchange rate. Hopefully it'll come down again

Port Huron MI today was $3.68, last week it was $4.20

I heard about the gas shortages in the Southeast due to hurricane related refinery shutdowns. Gas here costs between $3.75 and $4.25 per gallon, regular. It's always more expensive in California; they say it's because of the special anti-smog blends we need. I just think it's more gouging. The new old chevy van gets horrible mileage, am working on improving that a bit (bought a carb rebuild kit the other day). For commuting I generally keep the '99 300M at 60 mph or lower. On the freeway that translates to 28 mpg or so. It helps.

You know what's weird. Here in Canada our gasoline is always somewhat more expensive but not horrendous and we're the biggest supplier of oil to the US.. but oddly enough the UK is one of the biggest suppliers of finished gasoline to the USA. Even moreso than Canada. I found that strange, considering what they pay for a gallon over there you think they'd be furious if they knew.

Here in South Central Texas its $3.53/gallon, its coming down from a couple of weeks ago.

How I wish I could rely on that! This afternoon (Sunday) I was coming back from Brentwood on the 405 and Ventura Freeway and was thrilled when I finally got out of first gear.

The current fuel shortages in the southeast are a great example of lack of investment in infrastructure in this country. Keeping refinery capacity at a minimum is a nice way to maximize profits for the industry. It lessens their investment and ensures that those refineries which they have will be well utilized, but a little redundancy would be a lifesaver in circumstances like this. I surely hope things will get back to normal soon for everyone who has to deal with this.

There was no gas at all to be found in my route from Woodstock to Roswell to Sandy Springs to Dunwoody. NOTHING! Dry as a bone. Got back to Marietta, drove around a bit and found the QT on 120 and Old Canton that had only regular, and there wasn't even a line!

Only Regular gas is available at the gas station I use.And you are limited to no more then 10 gal per fil.glad I filled my lawnmower cans before the storm hit.Still more mowing to do .Since my car is a hybrid-use only 7- 8 gal.My older Highlander would have used 12 gal.

I used to live in Dunwoody not far from the terminals in Doraville...can't believe that those huge tanks are empty. 3.59 or so up here in Detroit...paradoxical that city stations in detroit (except right on the interstate) are cheaper than the suburbs. Also you need to look carefully here...places are starting to charge a premium for credit.
