GAS CRISIS!!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I guess I'm lucky in that while I have a 22 mile commute each way, in the mornings at least if I leave by 7 am I can count on doing 60 for most of the way. Afternoons are slower, but after a five mile congested area it opens up again... if I leave by 4 pm.

Commuting cost was a factor in my decision to quit a job with a 2 mile commute and take this one with a 22 mile commute. I try to keep the cost down by keeping the speed down.

Works for the passenger car. The van and pickup (both V8's) are kind of a lost cause ;-).

Man, its here now, previously just some of the grades were out at my local station, but there was always some gas. Last night there wasn't any gas at my closest station. I went down the street though and they seemed to have plenty. I hate gas lines and remember them from the 70's. No fun. Hope that doesn't happen here like it did in Nashville, and now some other places too like Atlanta and Charlotte.

In Jackson, Barrow County North GA

there is absoulutely no gas to be found. A co-worker finally found some at Costco Gwinnett place in Duluth this morning. I work 32 miles from home round trip 64 miles. Luckily I still have my 2000 Nissan Frontier which I use as my knock about truck. We took it out of service after I bought my Honda Civic. It had a 1/2 of tank of gas so I drove it this morning. I wanted to save the 3/4 tank of gas in my 2007 Honda Civic for use later in the week. My wife's Honda CR-V had a 1/2 tank this morning. We will probaly ride together the rest of this week. She works 22 miles from home/44 round trip. Luckily my wife's office is on my way to work.

The UGA/Alabama game in Athens did nothing help gas matters. I heard a lot of people ran out of gas on their way back home since they could not find any. A lot of the GA law makers suggested Sonny Purdue have UGA postpone the ball game but "he just didn't think the gas situation would make that big of difference". GEEZ!

I hear ya A440

There is no gas here in Cleveland TN either, only Murphy USA has it and when they get it, it goes fast. Kinda sad

I have a '84 Mercedes 300D. It is nice, since it is so much easier to find diesel fuel than gasoline right now. If you wait for the station to run out of gas, you don't even have to wait in line.

Arkansas

$3.74 here. Most stations don't have mid-grade nor premium. We've been lucky to find "regular" unleaded at most places.

State of Emergency

Oh, I forgot to add, when Ike was coming, our governor declared a state of emergency which capped price gouging on all things, including gas. There were several county district attorney's that filed suit and issued subpoena’s for the stations gas records when they hiked the IKE price by $1.20+ a gallon. Needless to say, gas prices fell rapidly down to the 10% increase that was allowed by law...

Investigations still pending.

that makes you gas 0.57 pence uk per litre

In the uk your gas (petrol)prices would be £0.57 per litre or £2.15 per gallon (US gallon) we pay double that around £1.10 for un leaded litre or £1.20 for diesel per litre or £4.15 per gallon for unleaded or £4.54 Diesel per gallon which is $7.48 per gallon unleaded and $8.02 for diesel per us gallon!! To fill a 3 series BMW with diesel would cost us about $120.00 luckily that gets me 600+ miles but as i drive nearly 1000 per week for work it soon mounts up for my company! and after tonights news it may get worse!!! ps to give some comparison a mid range hotpoint front loader washer is $450 and average salary here is $59102.89 Are things here better or worse?

Ahhh, the joys of living in New Jersey ;)

Plentiful, $3.25 or less, and THEY FILL THE TANK FOR YOU!

Everyone laughs about this state being full of refineries. Look who's laughing now >:)

I think this is Ridiculous!

Here in my area of NC Most places are 3.99 a gallon. I was fortunate to find a station that had some for 3.75. Availability has been hit and miss and mostly low-grade is all that's available. I don't recall a time (in my life) when a hurricaine has caused a disruption in the flow of gasoline into the gas stations.

Some people here in the surrounding areas act to desperate about it, in one rural area noted for "hicks" they were waving guns at each other and in another fights broke out. Glad I live in the city.

Diesel is the bomb right now....

Chris,
I had a diesel VW that I wish I would have kept! This is a perfect time to have one. You live and learn.
I was out getting supplies tonight, and there was a traffic jam off of Camp Creek and 285! Why? Because the cops stopped traffic to let the Gas Tankers have privilege on the roads. I am okay with that. BJ's (wholesale club) had gas tonight. They have not had gas in about 5 or 6 weeks. It was $3.52 a gallon. I will stop in the morning early and see if I can top off there.
I agree with Greg. It is sad how we act like animals when we are faced with reality.
I just hope that this will all be over soon....
Not to mention, gas prices go down. Yea Right....
