But the diesel

$4.75

Learn this word.. "HYPERMILING"

Everyone thought I was crazy when I started hypermiling 2 years ago, now it's front page news.

We are at around $4.50 for regular and about a dollar more for diesel. It was $3.99 for regular 2 weeks ago. It appears we'll go from $4/gal to $5/gal a lot faster than it took to go from $3 to $4. The summer "driving" season hasn't even gotten started so prepare for more outrageous spikes.

It is $3.79 here in Wichita when I was out at lunch. I missed my opportunity I only have 1/4 tank and it was $3.68 yesterday. Now I have to pay 11 cents more per gallon. But payday won't be here til tomorrow.

Do propane bills count?

Last month's: $450

We're wearing a lot more sweaters these days.

Its $1.57AUD per litre for regular and $1.69AUD for 98RON. Diesel is about $1.84AUD per litre. With the price price premium we seem to pay for new Diesel cars, the expected payoff time is still around 10 years to break even. Diesel was cheaper than Petrol here until about 12-18 months ago.

Thats a jump of about 30cents per litre in the last 4 months.

Regular in the US is only 88RON?

Regular here is 91RON, Premium is 95RON

It is interesting to see that as the AU Dollar comes close to parity with the US Dollar, the US Fuel prices are also coming close to achieving parity. That is all that's keeping our fuel prices under $2.00/L is our strong dollar against the greenback.

Atlanta

$4.30 for midgrade

$4.85 diesel

$4.08 regular

This is at the BP station down the street from the office (or as we say in the south "awfuss").

Thank you, Democrat members, for keeping us beholding to OPEC and keeping supply limited for the demand.

$450 for a month of propane gas in MAY?

What, pray tell, do you do with it?

Is that 30 days or 60days, or to fill a huge thank that lasts 6 months?

Toggles, that's 30 days worth: $3.80/gallon, 120 gallon refill in a 150 tank. Usage drops substantially after April or May.

We live off the grid for natural gas, and virtually everything in our house is propane (central heater, oven/stove, water heater etc). Propane costs are somewhat offset by our electricity bills, which average only $50/month.

"Thank you, Democrat members, for keeping us beholding to OPEC and keeping supply limited for the demand."

Don't blame me, Peter, I'm not a Dem anymore, LOL!

Seriously, any reservations I may have held regarding drilling in ANWR, etc. went flying out the window, the minute I heard of China's plans to drill off Cuba!

My thinking is, in case of an unfortunate accident, which nearby superpower will get hit with the aftermath, and the costs of a lengthy cleanup?

Probably wiser to keep all of our options open, at this point..

I think we have to consider everything.

Oh, $3.93 down at the corner, from my evening walk!

Alternative technology exists and is being used to power cars in other countries, but it would literally take an act of Congress to get U.S. car makers to pursue producing anything that doesn't run on gas.

There is no need to subject our offshore ecosystems to the negative impact a drilling platform would have on them. We need to get off of oil, not hunt down every last drop left on the planet.

This rise in the cost of oil may spark technological research that could re-ignite Silicon Valley and other R&D area economies and result in an alternative fuel automobile that beats anything already attempted or produced.

Keeping with the spirit of the thread, that's just my $2 worth.

this is ok.....

we are no longer fretting over gas prices here in the midwest,
we now float our cars where we want them to go.
