GE 2200

I have a friend who did a kitchen remodel.  While pulling out his current dw(GE2200), a leak was noticed on the sub flooring. 

He got someone to come out and inspect the dw and was told it was beyond repair.

He has some kind of contract that he pays per month so that he can replace his appliances.

He is being allowed $500 to replace the dishwasher.

He is looking to replace it with another GE.

 

Found this one on the Lowes site with FAN ASSIST drying.  Did not know they still made dishwashers with this option in this price range.

 

What do you think of this model?

That DW is a POS

I know several people that have that DW, and I have never heard a kind word said about it.  My best friend has it (with a SS front) and he has never hated an appliance so much.  It will barely clean pre-rinsed dishes, and even that takes the longest cycle with his water heater jacked up pretty high.  He wants to replace it as soon as he has the funds.

 

I am intrigued that the 2200 can not be repaired.  Unless something is wrong with the circuit board, pretty much all parts are available, and it is an easy machine to work on.  The most common leak is from the pump assembly.  All GE's do this.   They have redesigned the motor and pump assembly for replacement.  You can pick one up for between $100 and $130 (maybe cheaper if you look on the internet long enough).  If he likes his 2200, I would recommend this route.  He will be much happier.

Leaking GE DW

Good advice Mark. the 2200 can probably be repaired easily. I have little to say to for people who have so much money [ or so little common sense ] that they get sucked into buying silly contracts for easily repaired appliances, and then they just get replaced with junk again and they think that they got something for nothing, LOL.

i have a cheaper model of this dishwasher with the stainless steel interior, i think it is the BEST cleaning QUITEST dishwasher i have owned! people who say it doesn't clean pre rinsed dished are on drugs, they probably block the spray arm eveytime they load it and complain that it doesn't clean.
