Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Who needs depends on this site??

When there are so many great washing machines to sort out the skid marks brought on by appliance lust?

Wow Allen, that is cheap for the range, and it is a very hard to find range... If I am not mistaken, those panels on the doors were only used for a very brief time on the very TOL GE stoves, perhaps even only on the very early self cleaning models (1963ish?). I have seen very few of them. That, combined with the great control panel (still with the larger pushbuttons, but to please Sandy not the 'pyrokitty' side buttons!), and all the TOL features... it is a wonderful stove! As Hans may say, wish one would show up over on this coast!

those "pyrokitty" buttons...

were found on top too. Our '58 big button "piano key" GE Liberator had them, and our cat almost burned the house down by walking on top of the backsplasher while we were out - I got home from errands to find a cast iron pot glowing red and smoke filling the kitchen, smoke alarm going off... a few more minutes and I hate to think of what would have happened! From then on we put a board over it every time we went out, and flipped off the breaker when we went away on trips, up until the time when it was replaced by our pink '56 HP. That Darn Cat!

Very First 40" Self-Cleaning Range From GE

Or anyone for that matter.

We have this same range in Copper-Tone and it all works, but being the first SC GE range design it might not be a range you would want to remodel your kitchen around as the main SC oven uses a lot of unique parts and it could be challenging to keep it working. Almost all of the other parts of the range are available somewhere and over the years we converted several of these early SC ovens to a standard clean oven when it became too expensive or challenging to keep the SC oven baking.
