Beautiful machine!
BTW, "steel" is a ferrous metal which, when nickel is added to it during the molten state, becomes what we know as "stainless steel". "Steal" is thievery. Someone needs to brush up on their grammar.
"FYI, evidence based reasoning says much the opposite about your assessment and my grammar."
What the hell???
Remember - you can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her think.

"As for spelling and grammar, I am the first to admit I am terrible at both. I go back and look at some of my old postings and think Wow, that was a dumb spelling mistake. But if I try to get it right, I go back and proofread at least once, if not more. I still make mistakes, but the point is I try to get it right. Everyone makes mistakes, and I won't be a grammar and spelling..."
I think that is a good surmise. By '98-99 they had mastered (so to speak) the conversion from Filter-Flo to the new plastic design both at Appliance Park and up in Canada, so didn't really have the capability to do a small run of higher-end stainless machines. I don't think there was a strike or anything. This was for the 1998/1999 model year, Bob, if I recall correctly. GE did put their logo onto the Raytheon designed Amana/Speed Queen machines. This was done for only a brief amount of time. I purchased a set from Home Depot for my sister and brother-in-law for a housewarming gift. Not too long after, the washer developed a problem (spin??) When my brother-in-law called the GE help line and read the model number to them they claimed they never made a machine of that model, lol. I suppose he convinced them, as the machine got repaired under warranty. The reason why GE very briefly put their name on the Amana line? -- My assumption was that GE wanted to test market a higher end stainless tub machine with the GE badge on it, as their model T line had no stainless tubs. This offered GE a chance to a quickly get a stainless tub machine out to market with no retooling or assembly line changes.
SteelI absolutely love the white porcelain on steal basket. I never liked the dark baskets, they were sad and almost creepy looking. I wish we had white filter flo baskets in the US along with stainless steal ones. I've never seen a stainless steal filter flo basket but rest assured that if everyone was like me such washer would exist.
Also love that you can select a warm rinse separately. Tully a versatile washer for all your laundry needs.
Are you going to buy this?

I always thought that those online grammar police wore very tight underwear which made them irritable and uncomforable.Beautiful machine!

PS
Lawrence, thanks for validating my long ago blocking decision.
It comes down to location. The bay area is full of snooty rich people that want the latest and greatest who believe newer is better, more efficient, etc. Most other places will take a nice dishwasher as long as it doesn't look too ancient, like wood grain paneling and 1970's or older colors.I'd have gladly taken the Kenmore Ultra Wash. The older the machine is the better it is, especially low millage units. Many people are looking for washers that were like their old ones after getting mixed results from HE machines.
But as usual Chet you have no idea how things work, GE could never have gone to that design for their washers and dryers you can’t make money by buying all your machines from somebody else. GE had huge factories that they needed to keep busy or go out of business.

They certainly didn’t do it just to see if people like stainless steel tubs they could’ve used silver colored plastic if they wanted it or they could’ve easily thrown a stainless steel tub in their T model GE washers.
That is a laughable comment from Combo, "They could have used silver colored plastic if they wanted it." "They could have easily thrown a stainless steel rub in their middle T." lol. A silver colored plastic tub is not stainless steel, nor is it competitive with stainless steel. A manufacturer doesn't "JUST THROW IN" in a stainless tub. That statement indicates a marked detachment from reality on the author's part. What better way to test market a premium machine than to just contract it out for marketability....virtually a no risk strategy.I’m not sure why GE ever sold these Amana Speed Queen design laundry appliances. They only did it for a very short time.
You may remember also that GE bought some of their top freezer refrigerators around the same time from admiral. They were pieces of crap also.
I really think they were threatening the union that manufactures their appliances to show that they could be tough and outsource things.

I noticed that type of mentality too, when I visited San Fran back in 1999.It comes down to location.
