In late december I purchased a GE combo in Indiana. The owner had taken it out of a mobile home that was being torn down. He stated that the home had been abandoned for about seven years and if you all remember the machine was very dirty and looked like it had been beaten to hell and back. Well, after picking it up and cleaning it and checking things out it wasn't that bad. Combo52 told me to check the pulleys for rust so I took the belts loose and polished all the pulleys and made sure everything turned freely. I gave all the hoses a quick check and replaced the power cord. Today I hooked everything up and sure enough she ran like a champ! Machine filled, tumbled, drained, switched speeds and did everything it needed to do. Only issue is when it goes into drying mode water starts to pour out of the front left corner and I have a call into Combo52 for advice. The only part I am in need of is a new Bleach Dispenser door as mine is broken. If anyone has one they would be willing to sell shoot me an email. Pics to follow.

Great save!

Oooh! I am so pleased for you! And yours works as a dryer, too!! Congratulations!
How bad is the leak? It may be the hose supplying the condsensor plate or if you have really cold inlet water, it may be additional condensation...
Oh, and I think I have the manual for this machine if you ever need it.

Problem Solved

Combo52 called me back and told me that is probably a loose rinse dispenser hose. Tomorrow I will investigate and see if I can't get that problem solved. Also, one of the side panels was badly dented and scratched so I am going to remove it and send it off to a local body shop to have it repaired and repainted.

Eddie?

Well I've been called a lot of things in my day.............but Eddie? Sir you have gone TOO FAR! BTW..my name is David but I go by Dave or Davy.......David is just so........formal.

I remember these back in the 70's. I saw one for sale at Woolco before they folded. It was tagged $750.The glass though was opaque not clear.I would have wanted it otherwise. I knew some folks who had it as well as a 1965 Lady Kenmore top loading portable dishwasher. They had been told by the previous owner of their mobile home that it was impossible to have a washer dryer in their hallway closet. They, evidently, proved him wrong.I had one that was a 1963 model in canary yellow and the trap door opened up and got all the clothes stuck in between the inner and outer tubs. What a frigging mess that was.good thing I was home when it happened.

All fixed!

After a removing the top of the machine and seeing the issue was not a broken hose but a dispenser body full of smutz the machine is now working near perfectly. Because of the machine sitting for so long the belts have taken there resting shape so it will take awhile for them to smooth out and then the pulleys should quiet down. I know you are not suppose to use any kind of dressing on the belts but has anyone on here found anything that works for softening them up a little?
