GE Combo way down in Tampa

That machine is very old. Note that it does not have the Regular or Delicate dry buttons. They put the heat settings in the dry zones on the dial. Regular used both elements until the heat was cycled the first time. For the duration of the dry cycle, it just used one heater. The delicate dry started out with only one heating element and did not reach the extreme temperatures of the regular dry cycle. I like the literal statement of the "DRIP DRY" button which stops the machine after the final spins. If you take heavy things out and hang them to dry, they will drip.
We have one like this and it is very similar to the GE combo in the background of the famed "Kitchen Debate" between Richard Nixon and Khrushchev at some American exhibition in Moscow in the late 50s. Khrushchev said that it was better to have one "brand" or manufacturer of each thing, like radios. Nixon said that the American way of competition with many brands was better. Soon, we will almost be where Khruschev said was best as more and more firms are bought out or merged.

One finally surfaced in Tampa-----
Years ago (in the 1960's) an Uncle of mine bought a new condo in Tampa called "Carrollwood Village". It was on the edge of town in those days---now lost in an ocean of urban sprawl.
Anyway, all those units had GE Combo's in them. Now, that was a pretty good sized complex, so there were plenty of machines installed.
ALSO, back in those days GE was very strong in the Florida market as the builders were hot to promote the "Total Electric" living style. It seemed like nearly every commercial laundry or new high-rise apartment building in those days had GE machines (Filter-Flo's)from Tampa all the way to Miami!
So it is good to see some of those old treasures surfacing. My Uncle's machine was still in service when he died back in the early 1990's, and was sold with the condo. Almost all those residents were elderly so who knows how many of those machines are still there? At least they were inside and that would help with the rust situation ALTHOUGH, Tampa's water is awful (hard) and leaves quite a bit of buildup on the machines over time.

WOW, it is only 6.5 hours from ME! Ok VEG, I will see if I can fetch it.
Steve (Gyrafoam) let's go to Tampa. I know Carrollwood Village. Most of them have been remodeled, but there are some that have not. How true about the GE's down there. The machine from the window according to the pic dosen't appear to be much hard water build up, but OY is Steve right about that water. I had a softner in my house in Tampa.
Ok let's see what happens. I have no experience with these machines at ALL.
