Why have only 1 GE Mobile Maid Dishwasher in Coppertone Brown, when you can have 3?
The left one was recently found by a friend at the local Habitat for Humanity Restore and she picked it up for me. Haven't tested it yet.
The middle one, I've had for close to 7 years. Last time I used it, several years ago, it worked.
The right one, I found on Facebook Marketplace locally, about 6 months ago. Haven't tested it yet either.

Lineup of top LoadGE portable dishwashers

Wow Justin that’s a pretty cool lineup, they’re all of the same design with the axial flow 1/3 hp motor. These were all made just before GE changed to the cheap shaded pole motor around 1967, we had one of the newer ones like your dishwasher on the right but with the new shaded pole motor design That Jason tried to use for a few months before he remodeled his kitchen and does such a miserable job. He just decided to hand wash dishes. We gave it to Chris Moore. It’s part of his collection now.

Have you tried out these dishwashers? Do they work? Well, it’s hard to find parts for the pumps and motors in them, if you’re going to use them, you should lubricate the start relay for the Motors. They have a tendency to get stuck and burn out the start windings in the motor. And that finishes them off very quickly with a cloud of smoke.

The new horizontal shaded pole motor actually worked better for cleaning dishes, but this older design had a nicer sound to it. It sounded more like a dishwasher should.

GE motors

How many her gave ever had a GE dishwasher get stuck, burn out the start windings a go out "in a cloud of smoke?" Let's do a survey.

The GE motors were designed for a purpose, and were remarkably reliable and "cheap" is your bias, John. Who is to say what a dishwasher "should sound like ". Not everyone has the same interpretation as your interpretation. It would be better if you stated, "I personally prefer the sound of the older motor." As what you had stated in your response was an opinion versus a fact.

It would be very nice, John, if you would let people post their finds and it you could comment on them with using it as a platform to denigrate GE.

You have your biases, we all do. Nothing against you on that. However, the rest of us are not continually using others post for the sole purpose of forcing our opinions and biases on others. It would be thoughtful of you if you could be considerate of others and let them, and us, enjoy their posts without using them as a tool for broadcasting your biases.

Until GE built dishwashers with a food particle filter, their machines tended to redeposit particles back onto the load. Most folks were still rinsing dishes off before loading anyway. GE got around the problem by multiple water changes and their famous soft particle masticator. In the late 1970's, they designed their first machine with a passive filter. Those machines performed very well. I know, because we had a 1200. It did a remarkable job. Credit can also be given to the GE machines for lasting seemingly forever with few, if any, repairs.
