GE entering small appliances once more

I wonder who is actually making these. I highly doubt GE would be building these in their own plants in Mexico or Appliance Park.

last "real"GE smalls were back in '84 or 85,before B&D branding began-some of the GE designs(such as toaster ovens) might have survived up to about 1995,and then crap after that. Ultramatic:that is a great record from '77

The GE Steam and Dry Iron was still being made under the Black and Decker name up until recently (still may be). Unfortunately made in China of course.

Yeah, there were some appliances sold under the GE name for Walmart about a decade ago. Some of them are still made under the Farberware brand at Walmart. Didn't really resemble any other brands, so I expect they use a special design for that customer. Probably Jarden made stuff.

They also sold fans and vacuums under the GE brand at Walmart. The vacuums were rebadged Eurekas.

Who owns the Toast-R-Oven trademark?

 

The Walmart GE toaster oven was labeled "Toaster Oven", not Toast-R-Oven which was used for a time by Black & Decker.

Toaster oven: yes (though not labeled as such conforming to the current convention).  Toast-R-Oven: no.  Quartz heating elements, shades of the Panasonic FlashXpress.  Also available with Calrod heating elements.

As for Chinese junk? In the late 80s to mid 90s, that may have been more correct, but no more. They do as well with quality as the specifications call for, or the company purchasing the product is willing to pay them to make it. When western nations eneterd China to buy things to sell at home, the global population was about half as now. We all have to eat, have shelter, healthcare, etc. If you have a better idea as how o do those things, write your representatives, senators, the Remington research council, etc.
Times have changed, if we don't we won't make it. That's if we don't destroy ourself sooner, or mother nature or the universe doesn't.
There is no going backward. China was starving, Russia was starving. Science is important, technology is important. So is A/I, and it will have a place and use. Balance is the key.
Developing nations will manufacture, unless it's done fully automated here. The rest of us will do the brainy work, unless we refuse to be educated, open minded, or ignorant. It doesn't matter so much to us, but it will if you have grand kids, and great.

Toast-R-Oven

Good question. I believe Black and Decker was using that name but don't see any current models from them using that Trademark.

Spacemaker is another one that's interesting, as Black and Decker was using it on their under cabinet appliances up until recently. While at the same time GE called their stacking laundry appliances, over the range microwaves, and undercabinet CD players by the same trademark. Believe it may have been first used on GE's 24" ranges of the 1960s.

Nice to see some GE small appliances again that at least have some GE DNA in them, that's if they're using true Calrod elements in the toaster oven.

I have no idea who made Walmart's "GE" appliances, I'm guessing likely they came out of the same Chinese factory that the Jarden brands came from. Strangely they, nor the current Farberware branded ones share enough characteristics to have been a simple rebadge.
