Hello, my brake on my GE filter flo washer recently went out. It isn't strong enough anymore to keep the wash basket locked into position when washing. Is the brake something repairable on a ge ff or do I have to put in a different transmission? Also what could I do for a weak suspension system? The tub is always leaning towards the front left of the machine an shakes bad when there isn't really a off balanced load. Thanks

I have 2 NIB ge trannys for ff washers. One is for a standard cap model; the other is for the extra large 18 lb model. the 18 lb model uses and extension piece to fit the 18 lb tub. You may have a loose or broken suspension yolk on your washer. There are 4 of them; one in each corner.

Okay thanks, in looking for the 18 inch shaft transmission. I forgot to mention I have tried different dampening pads to try to help the shaking but it didn't work.

The brake

IS repairable, you turn the tranny upside down, tale off the pulley, take out the bolts, lift off the bottom and you will see the bar , called a latch slide, that is what engages to brake the tub, it is a square aluminum bar..its been many years since I had one apart but once you get in there you will be able to see it, usually the end wears off.
