GE Filter Flo Question

Folks:

My GE Filter Flo is biting the dust.

Two times I have gone down and found soggy clothes in the tub that haven't been thoroughly spun out.

Then, I watched it wash. The water stream that spews into the basket ain't happening.

I turned the washer off. Spun it for five seconds. And then set it back to wash.

The filter mechanism started spewing water into the basket.

Then, it started acting up again. No waterfall.

During the spin, it spun at full speed; however, a ratcheting sound could be heard.

My guess--the pump?

Is there a second opinion out there?

could be the pump......since no water from the filtering flume

could be the clutch mechanism, clutch pads bad and/or the unit itself is not working right also causing the transfer from the motor to the pump is loose....

best bet is to take the back off and see what is or is not working....the pump spins at high speed with the motor at all times....the clutch is in the middle, and gathering the racheting sound could just need a rebuild

It's actually a pretty easy mechanism to work on....IF you can get it apart...that is the challenge.

Repair manuals are still readily available. Filter-Flos are the easiest to work on, IMO. Probably an easy fix.

My money's on...

Exactly the same symptoms on our V-12 when a sock ended up in the outer tub drain hole.

One More Thing

My daughters placed a cup of teeny-tiny paint brushes on the side of the washer.

Because it washes and spins with the lid open, the paint brushes fell in during the rinse, and I pulled a couple of them out through the inner wash tub holes.

I'm wondering if one of those suckers got into the pump somehow.

I think it's quite coincidental. . .although nobody is taking responsibility for the paint brush incident.

Isn't that the way it always goes.
