GE filter flo questions

I have two questions for anyone, I need to know how to and what works best to reseal the top to the tub of the filter flo when you open and then reclose and it dont seal good?
also how do you replace the pin in a timer knob and keep the points and little parts from going everywhere and being a pile of little parts??????
