I recently purchased a factory rebuilt transmission from a member of this site; great seller, great transmission. Unfortunately, I mis-measured my old transmission, and the shaft of the new transmission doesn't reach the top of the agitator. Should be no problem, the tranny is a coarse spline 38X53, and there is supposed to be an adapter that allows that tranny to be used on either the standard or large capacity washer. There is the occasional NOS adapter on ebay, and also an aftermarket version, however, looking at them, I don't see how they could solve my problem. Seems like there should be an extended coarse spline, not a hex. I am baffled.

Thanks for responding, John. But if there's a new agitator made specifically for the new transmission, why is there need for an extender?

Thanks for responding, Jon. The original model transmission would have been the easiest way to go, but it's even "pricier" now that another new transmission is already installed.

during the last of the filterflo era, they used one transmission and agitator for both size tubs.....for the larger capacity machines, an extender/sleeve was placed on top of the standard size agitator to make it fit the deeper tub, and a screw held it in place, then the cap on top to cover it...

I was looking for a pic to show you, but can't seem to find one...

KDC-21A KITCHENAID DISWASHER Trim handle HELP!

Hi, Steve here. Live on Long Island. I know I am a Newbie. I love old appliances and always intend to have them for daily use.

Anyway, I have a KDC-21A Kitchenaid dishwasher. And for the life of me can't figure out how to remove and replace the BLACK TRIM around the center chrome handle that lifts up. Mine is cracked and missing a piece at the top. I have a replacement. However after I remove the chrome handle and then the two black screws holding the plastic trim, I can't pull off the trim! UGGGH! I don't want to damage the sheet metal or anything else pulling too hard. But you would think the piece just snaps in and out. Even when I try to bend the trim from center out, it still does not come out. WHY? It seems the ends are stuck or something to the frame. But it should not be. Anyone know how it comes off? Thanks

Removing Handel Trim On A KDC-21 KA DW

Hi Steve, you have to remove the metal control panel as well as what you have already done, there are two more screws on the back of the metal CP holding this piece in place.

I don't know how this question got in a thread about a GE agitator, LOL.
