Hello all Filter Flo experts!

I have a Filter Flo washer and the last time I used it, there was a leak.   I removed the inner tub and inspected for any rust holes in the outer tub, but have yet to find any.

I traced the leak down to (I think) the sump fitting where the pump hose connects.  At first I thought it was the hose clamp, so I replaced it.   I partially filled the tub again and discovered water was still dripping off this plastic fitting.  Plus it's now also dripping off the other end of the hose at the pump.    I'm assuming (perhaps wrongly?) I may have disturbed the "seal" at that end of the hose when wrestling it around to replace the clamp.

I was thinking of putting a big schmear of red sealant on the inside of the tub around this fitting, but want to find out what you guys think first.

After work today I'm going to try replacing the clamp at the other end of the hose (at the pump) to see if there's any change.

Thoughts and suggestions please?

Thanks much!

Kevin

yeah you would want a good sealant, but on both sides.....and the trick is to squeeze out any remaining water in and around that seal....normally I would say use a torch to evap any moisture, but with the rubber there, not always easy...

poke a little at those rough areas around that port, there may be the start of tiny holes perforating through....and you may want to expand that sealant a little past that area, just for good measure....

You might also want to

put on your magnifying spectacles and look at some of those tiny rust marks that may be around the sump hole ( I can see a few in the picture above).  I've had a couple of FF's with little rust spots down there that begin a lot of those leaks. Those FF outer tubs weren't coated with enough enamel and they seem to rust easily.

Thank you so much for the suggestions Martin & Ken!   I'll definitely have to get in there to take a really good look at everything and make sure it's completely dry before sealing it all up.
