I remember when the Armstrong Theater presented programs on TV and I can still hear the words, "Montina Corlon."
I have a beautiful blue and most subtle off white Hoover Floor-A-Matic that is great at what it does, but cleaning it up after using it involves as many changes of water as does preparation for a gastrointestinal procedure. I stand the poor thing in a half inch of water in the utility sink and suck up the water into the tank to clean the innards. I carefully rinse all of the parts exposed to the cleaning product and remove and rinse the strainer in the wet vac part. These machines also had a vulnerable clutch that retracted the brushes and held them immobile when the switch was moved to wet pickup to lower the machine down onto the floor. Now that Hoover is kaput, I don't know how it could be fixed if it broke so I mostly use it for scrubbing and have a Rubbermaid commercial mop bucket and wringer handy to pick up the water.
