Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

well thanks

For the compliment lol. Not my best pose it was really hot in the garage working on the washer. I am attempting the hose swap sometime this week. I need to find the adapter for the handle that goes to the sink. It almost looks like one for like an air tool but a little bit larger.

Just a thought...

An option on the hoses that come to mind would be to cut the hoses off 6"-12" from the end and couple on a new set. You'd still have the end with the chrome you like but a new set of hoses. I'm guessing the area that the hoses go into is open enough to allow this.

yes

I was thinking I could actually just cut the old brass clamps off with my Dremel tool and attach new ones. I have to do some looking around. Thanks for the tip.

WAIT!!! Dont go cutting!

Matt, dont go crazy just yet!
Get out the good old Yellow Pages and check under Hydraulic hoses and find a local place or two that makes up custom hoses. Then bring your complete set of hoses with the coupler still attached and see if they acn remove the hoses without destroying the coupler. They can work wonders when given the chance. They may be able to open the crimps and get the old hoses out and recrimp them and make it all look original for you. If you dont succeed at the first place, try another. I have had hoses made up that way and usually they came thru with flying colors.
Here is one shop with a few locations for starters:

Matt

I think your machine is a rarity. We've seen many other Mobile Maids here. Usually earlier vintage that have the impeller wash system. This machine has the 1st GE spray tower with what was known as their axial-flow "Thoro-wash" system. I believe its dates to '1963--'65.

Then came the horizontal Potscrubber sump/pump motor arrangement that is still in use today.

Have fun with it!

L.P.
