It had the belt torn up and sitting in the drum when I got the dryer, $9.99 later it runs like a champ. It seems GE sold about a alf dozen differnet belts from 3 ribs to 4, 79 inches to 88 to 91.
Someone wrote on the back of this OILED Aug 06 and Oiled Sept 03, so they got regular maintenance. It has sparking ignition and fires up immediately upon hitting the start button, no pause like my Kenmores or GM Frigidaire with the HSI/glowbars. The motor is pretty dusty, but almost no lint inside the cabinet. There's almost no surface rust on the exterior bottom though it was an ugly old basement, but there's a decent amount on the interior bottom. I'll run it a week or two to be sure there aren't any other issues, then I'll take it apart and de-rust and primer it up. And clean up the motor.
It has the GE glides, not rollers, looking pretty new, so someone already did the upgrade since 1966.
The light goes on when you set the timer for Timed or the "dryness" for Automatic cycles. Then it goes off when the cycle is done. If you set the dial and never hit start, you've got a basement night light! No buzzer or bells, too bad.
And it has the pedal to open the door, I will gladly get used to that. No moisture sensing, it's the heat-versus-timer style, so far so good after about 4 loads of clothes.
