i hate to be stereotypical but.... this is why we will NOT buy another GE product where the hell is quality control???? instead of the government worrying about energy consumption why dont they worry about the safety of the product? *yawn* GE

Thank you Joe for posting this. My sister might have this machine so I sent her the link. Heaven only knows when her part of Florida will receive the news.

I hate buying things made in China. The only way this nation's jobs situation is ever going to improve is when we resume making IN THIS COUNTRY what people buy in this country. Sorry for the rant, but corporations are being run to maximize profits for the benefit of shareholders with no thought for keeping money and jobs here and it is just not right. It's not sustainable in the long run either, but who is looking ahead anymore?

Quality control is at an all time high in the appliance industry. Warranty calls are at an all time low, we barely do any warranty work any more. There are less than 1/4 the number of appliance technicians working that we had in the 1970s even though the population has increased by 100 million and people have far more major appliances per person than ever. A safety recall is not so much a quality problem as a design problem, these are few and far between as less than than 1/2 of 1 % of major appliances ever face a safety recall.

THE GENERAL ELECTRIC "GREEN DOT"

GENERAL ELECTRIC now known as "GE" used to spray a green dot on the back of every General Electric Filter-Flo washer as a sign of Quality Control....I am sorry those days are long gone...what a disgrace! I REALLY WISH THAT SPEED QUEEN / ALLIANCE WOULD START TO ALSO MANUFACTURE AN ENTIRE LINE OF MAJOR APPLIANCES.

Well even my beloved Speed Queen is full of parts from China (switches) and Mexico (motor)...they are only assembled in the USA.

I know Whirlpool still makes the top loaders in Clyde, Oh. The dryers are made in Marion, Ohio, dishwashers in Findlay, Oh, and some of the refrigerators are made in the US while some are made in Mex.

When I seen GE and China in the same sentence, I thought maybe they recalled them because the cabinets were painted with cadmium! Yes, I'm terrible.....
