Early to mid 90s 24 inch GE spacemaker laundry

I always love how they put a GE quality product on the things they didn’t build.

Yes, this was made by WCIGE did demand upgrades at least when they started carrying this product the washer lid washer, top, and dryer door were changed to steel because of all the fires that had in the models with plastic lids They also put in a heating element design for the dryer. It’s completely enclosed and steel.

The other upgrade of this machine as it put electric drain pump in it so it did a neutral drain and did not suds lock anymore so the washer actually Works. The 80s machines with the Franklin transmission were absolutely abysmal because they would not spin out the water properly. The pump constantly airlocked. They finally made the final spin cycle 16 minutes long in a desperate attempt to make it work before they finally decided to do an electric drain pump and neutral drain.

The other big problem with these later ones and it may have had something to do with Electrolux buying WCI, but they ended up with a 50 cycle motor pulley on the dryers so the dryer tumbled so fast that the clothing just stuck to the drum and never dried properly. We used to take two of the drum baffles out of the dryer drum that would make the clothing tumble better, other than that you had to replace the entire dryer motor because the pulley was pressed onto the shaft and not replaceable.
