That's a nice 40" GE; reminds me somewhat of the one my cousin Mary had. Hers was a little fancier, white, double ovens, clock, and surface units together. However, the control panel was this style. It was purchased as a gift from her older daughter in '63 or '64.

The Avocado is very similar to the apartment I rented in 1989, built in 1969. It was the 30" P-7 version of this, without the light and just a chrome strip there.
This is actually a rather cheap stove. It doesn't have a clock, it doesn't have self cleaning, no griddle. Yes it has the light, a single outlet, and a window, but...
What is up with the far right stove switch? Instead of a strip of white buttons we see what appears to be the melted, blackened remains, all burned together. The ad says "Everything works except front right eye"

$125 for a stove that HOPEFULLY won't short out any more,
or hurt your back while moving it.

You're right - so barebones, I thought the same. That outlet switch is really a zinger. How would you use it and the far right burner and what would you think of plugging into that socket? A Wok? LOL!
I think the switch above the receptacle controls the backsplash light.
"Eye" - this is a common term in the South for the surface unit or burner. Most of my relatives in Mississippi and Alabama use that word when referring to a stovetop.
Didn't notice the blackened pushbuttons on the right. On this small monitor I can't tell if they are burned or just covered with black tape.
I remember seeing this model on display at the GE dealer a few blocks from our house. They sold well around here because of the divided top, which accomodated large pots for canning better than the grouped ones.

GE could easily afford to make a wide variety of models even in the typical less-in-demand 40-inch models, compared to other makes, offering fewer, more standard selections...!
