GE Toggle Switches

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

The use of the toggle switches diminished with time, but I think GE continued to use them until the end of the Filter-Flo models. I think that would have been about 1990? Others here can correct me if that's inaccurate.

I think there was an earnest effort to go from toggles to buttons predominately with the series of FFs which came out in the 1981 to 1983e timeframe. And also as the evolution continued, it went mainly to knobs.

In 1991 I bought my mom a GE Lg. Cap Filter-Flo and it had one toggle / rocker switch for wash/spin speed on the left side. It had 2 knobs in the middle for temp, and water level, then on the right it had the cycle selctor knob. In 1992/3, I remeber the builder installing new one speed GE Filter-Flo washers with two rocker switches controlling temp and water levels. These machines had no knobs in the middle....That's the best of my memory...TOL models in those years definitely had pushbutton selections on the left. These machines were also the first to use only the "GE" logo and not the General Electric brand name.
