Got a horizontal Triple Whip for 2.00 at a yard sale yesterday.(this is the model with the gray dial and no beater ejector) Worked well the first time I tried it. The next time it was making a screeching noise and a couple of metal flecks came out of the bottom of the mixer. Would anyone who is handy and likes to tinker be interested in taking it to try and repair? I hate to get rid of it. It has both bowls and the juicer too.

Look for one on e-bay with out the bowls or beaters. I have both the upright & horizonal ones, use the same bowls & beaters. Absolutely NOTHING better for fluffy cakes. They both have lights for the bowl, at first I thought that was nuts but now like the feature.

Easy to repair

Flip the mixer upside down and you'll see four screw heads that hold the mixer (upperhalf) to the gear box (lower half)turn the mixer on and listen for the screech. Bearing are permanently lubricated but you can work a bit more into them. Insert one of the beaters into the gear box and turn it by hand. Feel for bumps, binding or noises. If you take the cover off the gear box be very careful not to let the gears come out or it will make the beaters out of sync. You can pack the gear box with fiber grease like used in brake and bearings for automobiles. Good Luck.
