Hello
I am looking to restore my GE V-12 and was wondering if anyone could help me locate a service manuel for this machine.
I know it need a new pump which I was able to track down. I am still in need of a new tub as this one is rusted out pretty bad. Anyone know of repair men who might still carry parts for my beauty? I'd appreciate any help.

Oh my that is one beautiful machine, I sure hope you find a new tub for it!! Could you share some of the machines history with us?

I found this machine posted on this site last year with a matching dryer from Washington State. I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with it. Water just dumps out of the bottom of the washer. The experior of the washer is very nice and the lights work..Old owner left water in the tub and now it is very rusty and cant be fixed. I am trying to learn to do this myself. There are no repair men who will work on the machine. : (

I don't know if this helps, but...

GE washers had no drain solenoid. If the drain hose was cut off of the machine at the pump valve, which is often the case when these machines are left for dead, you have to get a drain hose and loop it up to the top of the tub before you attach another drain hose extension or the water will just flow out of the pump and then out of the machine.

also,

"Wouldn't a tub from a V12/V14 or V16 GE fit in this?"

Yes.

...in fact many parts from a much newer GE with a STANDARD sized rating will work. Any machine rated 12, 14, or 16 lb. capacity all used the same sized washbaskets, tubs, activators, transmissions.

GE V12 Restoration

Good day everyone,

I have this same washer and have made repairs to many GE washers, including leak issues. If you can get the machine to my place in Long Beach, I can get it going for you. I do some car restoration work and I charge $100 an hour for this type of work. If you are interested, let me know. I can post some photos of my restoration work when I return from the vacuum convention next week.

Water dumping out the bottom

Might this be an issue if the tub boot became dislodged as well? Sometimes these machines get transported on their sides, and the stress pops the tub boot off of the outer tub...

thanks so much for all the great advice. It is not the drain hose that is still attached. When I look @ the back of the machine the water dumps right out of the bottom of the tub. Is there a seal there? How to I remove the aditator on this machine?
I am going to look on ebay for the service books. I really want to get to know my machine and attempt to fix it myself. I appreciate it everyone!!
