GE Wash Arm and Filter Disassembly

We recently bought a new home and it came with a GE Tall Tub, non-profile dishwasher, model number GLD4468R00SS. Although it has a self cleaning filter system, in my other machines,I have always liked to disassemble the wash arm and filter system from the inside and clean them anyway. I have always found gunk and other matter in my previous machines. Can anyone tell me if and how this newer GE mechanism can be dis-assembled for cleaning without damaging it?

small plastic cover over the lower sump (505) remove the cover, and inside the sump there is a screen covering the inlet going to the pump. You dont need to dissasemble the machine to get to this, reach in with a brush or fingers, when I did mine, made a huge difference, dishes are clean again, and you can hear water being thrown around inside while its running, before the cleaning you couldnt hear a whole lot happening.

I took the plastic guard off the drain sump a while back and I think it helps.  My unit is supposed to have a soft food disposer but I was cleaning out the filter every few weeks with bits of lettuce and such that should have done down.  After I took off the guard all the garbage goes into the sump and is pretty much gone, I have not need to clean it out recently.

all the stuff would just be collecting at the coarse filter during wash cycle, and during drain, large chunks would go to your drain pump. The holes on the pump are not small, but it does clog up fast on these machines. Would be concerned about items being lodged into your drain pump with the sump guard being taken off, clog up the pump and leaving you having to pull your dishwasher out to clean or replace it.
