Some visiting friends stayed at a Candlewood Suites extended stay/motel last weekend and I managed to snap a pic of the laundry room. There were 6 GE washers & dryers---and get this---use of them was FREE. Each room also had a full-size BOL GE dishwasher, a garbage disposer, a full-size fridge, a big microwave and 2 burners. Anyway, here are a couple pics from the laundry: First, the control panel on the washer. My only question is this: Why put a fast spin on a permanent press cycle?

Fabulous, thank you.

Fast spins showed up on PP/easy-care/wash n'wear cycles years ago. Beats me as to why.

The whole cycle is pointless on a washer if the entire contents of the load will be machine-dried. The dryer will relax the wrinkles. In that case a good long cool-down becomes key.

Too bad I don't fit into the dryer.

I noticed the softener dispenser too, and wondered how the heck it would work that way! Now I realize it isn't supposed to look like that.

Frankly, I was just impressed that use of the machines was free and that they weren't BOL pieces of crap. SS tubs, even!

Love those hotel washers!

Pretty cool. The tubs remind me a bit of the Fisher and Paykels. I wonder if there are any of these Candlewood Suites in Tuscon? ;-) Perhaps a mini-mini wash-in would be in order! LOL

I SO wanted to run the machine without any clothes in it. They even have water level controls! Alas, there was no time. I had to sneak off for a stolen moment just to get these pics. Funny how non-washerheads get a little creeped out if you announce "I'm going to take pictures of the washers in the laundry room" when you come to pick them up at their motel, LOL. I may book a room there (my friends got their room for $59 per night!) next time I go to Mpls. just to use the dishwasher and washing machines.

I actually own a GE profile washer similar to the one in this picture. I really like it... does a great job. The spin is long and fast and the clothes are almost dry when I take them out of the washer. I know there is a lot of negativity re: GE, but I really like mine.

interesting that they are FREE to use!

we prefer to stay at Residence Inns. They use Maytags which clean very well but only hold up to 10 lbs. (8 is better to assure good load turnover). Just stayed at one last week; they raised the price up from $1.25 per load to $1.50. While I would love for it to be free most hotel chains use this as a good source of revenue. I would probably still use it even if the price per was $2.00. Sure beats packing dirty clothes to stink up the suitcase!

Candlewood was purchased by Intercontinental Hotels Group early last year. The goal of IHG in 2006 is to increase the number of rooms in the system by 60,000, so there will be lots more Candlewood Suites, Holiday Inns, Crowne Plazas and Intercontinental Hotels coming soon...
