I found the information in the recent thread Speed Queen the Only "Sane" Modern Washer Left? in the Deluxe forum interesting. One thing stated about the SQ was how it didnt have a board with electronic controls which is a plus.
Recently I was in Home Depot and took the opportunity to check out the appliances. I paid particular attention to the GE TL washers and found this GE for $498.00. What caught my eye was that it appeared to have non-electronic controls like the SQ. I was impressed by the SS tub. Only thing I found disappointing was it didnt have a soak cycle which the more upscale model, $150.00 more, next to it did have. Our current 2003 GE has the soak 30 min - 15 min feature which I like having.
The more expensive model had a row of indicator lights above the timer. It also had an off button to the right of the timer. Seeing those lights gave me the impression it might be better to go with the cheaper one?
