Hi!

I have a General Electric Hotpoint J485A1WH range and need a list that contains the part numbers for parts for this range.

Checked products.geappliances.com for the date code and found that it was manufactured in 1952.

Would anyone have a parts number list?

I need the sensi-temp sensor for the front left electric burner, switch for the right front burner, bulbs for the oven, bulb for the over the burner and also the switch for that light.

The range is similar to a previous poster which I copied and attached below. I hope its alright that I did this.

I also hope to get some new burner drip bowls and get the sockets working again.

The range shown is a 1960's GE, which has very little in common with a Hotpoint from the early 50's. However, the model number given doesn't sound anything like Hotpoint models from that time - which begin with the letter "R". Check the date code again, as they reused them every so many years.

1965 or 6 40inch GE electric range

These were nice ranges, the sensor is very hard to find for the automatic burner. Usually, we just convert it to an infinite switch. You replace the responder with a widely available infinite switch. You still retain the three size burner push button control when you do this.

The part number for the right front burner switches on the back of the switch google or search for that, lightbulb should be easy to find burner bowls should be easy to find just match up the old ones.

General electric and Hotpoint were the same company, but the stove has nothing to do with hot point It was a separate division.

Thanks so much for your responses.

Regarding date code I used this website : https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16195

Appliance Manufacture Date Code Chart
Letter : J
Month (first letter) : --
Years (second letter) : 1952

Included image of Model No / Serial No below.

I dont know much about Hotpoint but both brands appear on the documents that came with the range when it was gifted to my mom around 1960. There are old posts that discuss this particular model or some similar.

Good to know that the bulbs are standard appliance bulbs. I will check where to purchase from other oven brands and if theirs is similar.

The burner still works, even selecting between the various sizes on the left front burner. Its just I cant use the feature that the sensi-temp permits. Its my fault that it broke since I left a pan on and got distracted. By the time I turned back to the stove the pan bottom was melting and it damaged the sensor.

Not sure I want to mess around with innards of the Range. We dont do much DIY on appliances here in the Philippines. Wish though that we did so we are not charged astronomical prices repairmen.

The timer also has started to be delayed and am wondering if it can be fixed.

Mid 60s GE 40 inch electric range

Often times I don't even try to figure out the age of a GE product by the serial number. There's too many exceptions, your range was made in 1965 through 67. It was impossible for your mother to have been gifted this in 1960.

The literature with this range would never have mentioned the word hot point Even though hot point was owned by General Electric. They were completely separate divisions just like when you buy a new Cadillac there's nothing in the owners manual about Oldsmobile or Pontiac.

If a pan melted on the senseatemp burner, it's because somebody bypassed the sensor and that makes it run full speed ahead, no matter what.

It needs repair before you try to use it you could start a fire.
