Yes I can adjust the size just not the temp it just goes high looked and the blob under the sensor is intact am waiting for an electrician to come test if its that the sensor isent working once canning season is over I'd like to see if I can take the dash? Apart to clean the glass and knobs I love this stove also one of the convince plugs isent working is there a fuse in the stove I can check sorry I know I probably sound dumb but I have no idea what I'm doing I just kind of stumbled across owing this stove but fell in love with it and want to fix it no man around my house to help out with it

Nice range!

You are talking about two different things here. The rear 8" element is strictly controlled by the 5 heat buttons. If only one of the coils is heating, the problem is as Combo52 has suggested. The front one has the sensor and the selections for the size of the heating pattern. Is there a problem with that one also?

I am sorry yes both large burners are malfunctioning the rear only every other coil is getting hot and the front the sensi- temp isent working all I have on the front is high heat that is adjustable in size

beautiful cabinets

I know this thread is about your beautiful stove but I just had to mention how much I LOVE your beautiful cabinets.I Just love the old vintage birch cabinets. Have been looking and scouring CL and Habitat to find some for my kitchen. Just a lovely kitchen. I hope you find a fix to your pretty stove, too. Very nice.

Thank you for the cabnit compliment my house is just over 100 years old I love it it has lots of character in regards to the front burner with sensi-temp the guy can out and tested the sensor and its getting power and the burner is hooked up fine so we belive its the switch when he hooked up the meter he said some time he could get a reading and sometimes not the back burner is now working it was just a wire loose he really think I should get a newer stove but I won't I love this stove I told him I ran it 11 hours straight the other day steam juicing three bushle of grapes and it dident even flinch nope its staying tmright where it is

Late 60s GE Range

The essayist way to test the Sensatempburner is to short together the two yellow leads going to the sensor, and if the element heats it is a bad sensor and the control, transformer, element and push-button control are good. I do not think that the guy who was checking this out knew how to test it, you can't really test the sensor by trying to get a reading across it with the power connected, it can be tested with an ohm meter and should give a reading of around 17 ohms.

Caution, DO NOT leave the sensor bypassed as the burner will heat only on high and this is a HI Wattage element, you will end up damaging the element, the finish on the stove top or setting fire to what you try to cook.
