Open wide and say AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

Very presentable Canary Yellow paint job on the outside, a blasphemous cavity of blucchh!!! $60 for the oven which came from the sellers neighbors old house, $15 to bring it here!! It misses the racks inside, has all the knobs and the three wire electric cable. No cooktop. I'm a third away from my GE kitchen!

It's from Leilani Heights, Jensen Beach Florida. It's a nice mixed '50s to the present community. Has a greenish cast to the porcelain, should clean up sufficiently. Now I need to find a suitable cabinet, and some racks. The numbers on the aluminum tag are as follows: J507R2YE  3.8  YR00461. I believe the door is removable to facilitate easy cleaning. The elements inside are intact.

Didn't the temp-probe cooking come into the built-in line in 1959?  There was a set of these (two), cooktop and wall refrigerator  all in pink in a nearby house that was built in 1959 and I've not seen mention of the temp probe in earlier literature I have.

I'm a GE lover, but not an expert

I was surprised to see this has the thermometer and rotisserie features, and I am wondering if this was MAYBE later than I thought, as kind of a holdover into the early '60s, even after the more modern one came out for 1959? Here are the model and serial numbers again, if you can make anything of it:

Nice yellow oven

Is this a 24" or 27" model? I can't tell from the pic.

As I remember, this basic style was made from 1954 until sometime in 1959. I would say it was probably one of the last ones, as it has the meat thermometer and window door. One of my neighbors has a very similar oven that was installed in 1955, in stainless steel - no window. I remember the former residents getting a new bake element for it right before they moved 4 years ago.

As for the model #, J507R2YE, the (J) indicates a cooking product, (507) is the particular model feature code, (R) I believe is the year, (2) not sure, but may indicate a revision, and (YE) is the Yellow color.

I'm sure someone on here will know which year is indicated by R.

The Turquoise oven you show is from the mid 60's, with the larger window and woodgrain handle. Another neighbor has one like it.

The face measures 26" across, and the height of the face is 31 1/2", so then it must be considered a 27, I guess. I am going to see if ReStore has a cabinet it will fit before I see if I can get one made. Oven opening is 21" wide to 15" high also. Thanks for all that great information too, I have a book someplace for an entire series of GE ranges and built ins, when I can find it. I think the book is about '55 though. But better than nothing for now.
