Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Yay Donnie!

I was so hoping you would be the winner.
I knew how disappointed you were over losing
the last auction. Congratulations and happy
times ahead. The set looks to be in great
condition and the manuals look mint too.

What a great Christmas present for yourself!

Donnie:

Join the 1-18 club They are the coolest machines I have ever known. Altough the Texas Wash-in tweeked my interest with the Unimatic Machine. Austin had wonderful demonstration of that.

Hey everyone

I have a question. Now that I won the set, I have been planning a trip out to PA with Christopher to pick them up. This is turing in to a logistics nightmare, we figure between the trailer rental, gas and a hotel. It's going to be about $500. Between the money on our time, I was wondering if it would be better to ship them. Does anyone know any good shippers?

Shacking up

I'm a half hour away for York. If you want to hole up here for the night to avoid having to pay for a hotel, you are welcome to. You can also rent a trailer here and take it back with you so at least you won't have pay for a trailer both ways. Maybe you already planned to do that, but just in case. There are U-hauls all over the place here. One is minutes from my place. I'm sure York has a number of U-haul places and other one-way rental places.

Depending upon how soon the seller wants the appliance out, you have a few options. Versatronics generous offer, or contact Craters and Freighters.

Craters and Freighters are not the most inexpensive option, but if one figures in one's own time and expenses they may come in pretty close. If you could get a cheap flight, bus, train out to PA, rent the U-haul and a car at a good rate, then drive back (factor in gas, hotel, rest stops), it may come in less than using a freight service, but this is the holiday season and for many time is short/valuable.

Thanks guys

Time is a big issue I want to have these babies Christmas, so I can show them off.
Versatronic, thanks for you offer it was VERY nice, but Christopher is a terrible snoring problem, I wouldn't want to have to subject you to that horror!!! Really the major source of the cost is the U-Haul, they want to $320 for a one way trailer. I have since found that they rent open trailers for about half the price..
Laundress, I'm going to check out your Creaters and Frighters idea.
Thanks everyone

Thanks Laundress

But I'm a step ahead of you =)
I already left a message at C&F... Did I mention I'm really excited about this :P

Talk About Chomping At The Bit

*LOL*

No flys on you Donnie.

When C&F contacts you have the following information handy for each item:

Type of item(s), weight, length, width, and height. Of course C&F needs to know where they are going and where to pick up from.

Most C&F locations move major appliances all the time, but you should ask if this particular location has experience moving washing machines and dryers. Some money can be shaved off the price if items are already packed/crated. While C&F tends to pack/crate extremely well, not everything needs to be on a pallet, which it seems C&F uses by default for "heavy" items.

There is another option; UPS freight will ship major appliances if they fall within certian guidelines (weight versus dimensions). One simply packs/crates the item and then calls UPS to arrange pickup and delivery. If the items are UPSable, it is cheaper than C&F, but someone has to to the packing/crating. Since this is UPS and not C&F, the better items are crated/packed the less chance of damage. Have had several large heavy items sent via UPS with no problem. All however were well packed and crated.

It is widely known all boys play with their new toys on Christmas morning, guess we know where Donnie will be all Christmas day! *LOL*

Keep us posted!

Update..

Ok I heard back from C&F...they don't service York PA.
However, I stopped listening to Christopher and took matters into my own hands (I should have done this in the first place). I went to U-haul and started asking questions. Instead of the one way trailer I found I can rent a 5X8 trailer round trip, for only 19.99 a day, strap that to the back of my Mom's Envoy and we will be on our way!!!
