They may make it more convenient and if you have the money to
throw away, they are probably fine, but a single pair of cheap,
off-brand wide-mouth vise-grips will work fine for both the
outer and inner bellows. Even at $5 apiece, I personally
would not buy these, but then I'm unemployed. And I have
found the snap rings are made of a hard metal. I was worried
the jaws of the vise-grip might damage the snap-rings, but it
is not obvious there is even a mark when I use them. If you
are concerned about that, you could always grind down the jaws
of the vise-grip (and even try putting a groove in them as
shown in the "real" thing.) Or just use a cloth around the
jaws, but that is a pain.
Of course having the orignal, quality tools to hang on the
wall above your pristine Frigidaire washer does have its
draw.
