Holy Filter-flo, Batman!

A TOL 1957 pair in yellow.  Paul has a matching pair in white.  The above-referenced pair is a 1958 pair.

 

I should say, this is not absolutely TOL, as the washer does not have the Suds-Saver feature.

 

Still, nothing to sneeze at!

Once advertised I know the competition is fierce lol. I was just reaching out someone for the white version of this dryer………I think it’s a sign that this set has appeared. Divine intervention?!

There must be a way to Gerry rig a suds save feature without causing permanent damage /changes. I think I’m willing to take the risk……

I’ll be contacting uship, which seems to have good feedback between here and Facebook groups.

GE 1957 WA-850P Filter-Flo Washer and DA-820P Dryer

Beautiful set, in GE's Mix-or-Match Canary Yellow. Seeing the Visi-Matic washer next to the set, I wonder if the washer saw low use as it appears to have been used gently. In theory, this is a TOL washer, with the suds saver being an additional feature on the TOL model. The absence of the suds saver will make restoring this washer that much easier (just ask Paul, LOL).

I would expect the bidding to be aggressive. The last '57 set, that was still new in the box, sold high and was never seen again. My hope is that the tub boot is still in nice shape for the future owner, and that the plastic snubber within the transmission is intact.

Nobody knows.

Seller wanted $4-$5k for set but as stated never heard a word about them afterward.

Some time ago, I posted these beauties on sale at an antique store where the lady gave me the run around about how much and when she would sell it. Well, i think they found a new home for a hot minute.....because now they're being sold at an astronomical price.....ugh...

I vaguely remember seeing a post on this site about an old time appliance store that was closing and there was a kitchen from the late 50s preserved in the store-based studio. I believe the appliances were GE and these two were part of the collection. Does anyone know if these machines were a part of the display kitchen in that store?

Unless mistaken estate sale is property of long time Mifflinburg husband and wife residents. Latter passed on back in January of this year.

Last time one checked bidding was up to $150 or so, now things are heating up.

Bidding was at $505 when one responded to Combo's post. Am shocked to see how things have more than doubled so quickly.

Mind you action seems to be confined to one bidder who keeps upping ante when he's outbid.

Keep also in mind like fleaPay and other online auction sites bidders enter their highest number on H-Bid. System will then automatically bid on said bidders behalf until max is reached.

Current high bidder is just $10 over ($1210) over previous bidders max of $1200. If one examines bidding increment schedule you'll see previous high bids were in $4,$5 and now $10 increments. Next bid must be at least $1220 or in $10 increments over current high bid.

Other neat feature about these auctions is no snipping! So called "Soft Close" feature means if bids are entered in final minutes of auction thing is automatically extended by about three minutes. This will continue long as bids are made in final few minutes. Hammer only drops when there is no bidding activity in last minute of auction.

"*This auction will have a SOFT CLOSE. This means that if there are any new bids within in the last minute of an item's scheduled closing time, the bidding will be extended by 2 minutes to allow the previous bidder time to respond. No item will close for bidding until the scheduled close time has passed AND there has been no bidding during the last minute."

In just past few minutes high bid hit 1,410.00 USD. Then same previous high bidder came back with $1510. Clearly that person is on a mission and means to have this set.
