I'm so excited!

Tomorrow morning, I'm picking up a free Whirlpool Mark Series ET22ZM refrigerator!

Reportedly, it works just fine.

Enclosed are photos that he sent me.

It looks like my current Whirlpool refrigerator, a 1981-1982 EHT 201AKWR2, down to the same handles, control console, and almond/off-white color.

I have been unable to find the parts list, wiring diagram, service manual, or owners manual for it. Anyone know where I can find them? My recent contacts with Whirlpool.com regarding other appliances has not been that helpful.

When I see the plate that has the complete model number and serial number, I'll post it here.

I'm going to leave it in my basement and use it for two purposes: to replace or use as parts for my Whirlpool refrigerator if it ever dies; to store frozen food for my dogs when I find those rare sales. That said, I expect it not to be used most of the time.

What storage tips do you have for it when I'm not storing food, eg leaving the doors open to prevent musty odor? I have seen mice in my basement, though not in several years (thanks to owning dogs?).

Thanks!

ET22ZM is not a full model number.  Have to get it off the tag that's usually behind the kickplate (or could be on a sticker affixed to the sidewall inside the fresh food compartment).

That being said, AppliancePartsPros.com comes up with only one match for (partial) ET22ZM -- ET22ZMXPWR0.  Your model is probably ET22ZMXPNR0 for being almond color.

We had the side-by-side version of that fridge for about 15 years.  I recognize the handles.  We bought it used in 1990.  When one of the door hinges failed, we decided it was time for a new fridge.   Our electric bill went down by $20/month.

I always worry about allowing refrigerators to sit for long periods without running.  Problems can often result.  You might just want to set the temperature control to "1" and air control to "B" as opposed to shutting it off completely.

Update

Some contractors helped me load it on the pick up truck. Unfortunately, the loaded it on its side, hinges facing down. It was on its side for about 10 minutes until I could get it home.

Do I need to do anything differently, like wait a certain number of hours before plugging in the refrigerator?

Here is the model and serial number

model number
ET22ZMXPNR0

serial number
S63631139

Also, in the door the bottom plastic that holds food, eg bottles, broke, a larger hole near the hinge and a smaller hole in the middle (see photos). What can I use to fix eg, eg filler?

Inner Controls

Look very similar to the Sears Coldspot we had in the mid 70's. I would suspect a 76 model.

It is

It is a 1986 model. The plastic door liner is badly deterated and brittle, this won't affect the function and it could make a good emergency ref but I wouldn't leave it running all the time it's bad enough to have one power hog in use.

Just leave the doors open when not in use, like most appliances it will last longer if not used than running all the time.

Thanks.

It's going to be a spare, probably not used until the first refrigerator dies. Is there any harm in leaving it unplugged, or should I turn it on from time to time? If the latter, how often?

thanks!

I cleaned up most of the door gaskets, but there's a black discoloration along the top horizontal surface of the FF that touches the cabinet. Laundry detergent with vinegar doesn't get it off (got off everything else). Any ideas?

thanks

Also, the shelves and cabinets in the refrig were removed from their positions and at the bottom of the refrig.

Is there a guide to installing the fresh food refrigerator section shelves and cabinets?
