Giant Top Loaders--non HE

Hello, I need some inputs, please.

When I bought my mother a new center-dial Whirltag two Christmases ago, I saw a Whirpool in the store's collection, with a giant tub and full agitator, same enormous SS tub as the Cabrio, etc, but instead of a propeller, it had a highly evolved surgilator of sorts. Really intriguing machine.

What started this, is that this morning, I realized I had a ton of big things to wash: A huge terry after shower robe that takes up a whole side of the Unimatic, 4 thick beach towels that I use all the time, and both my regular robes were dirty, and the flannel sheets needed changing. Immediately thought of that giant Whirlpool, and wished I had one, at least for today.

Do any of you own one or have info about this soon-to-be-extinct beast? ~if not already gone. Just curious. Thank You.

It is a Cabrio, with an agitator instead of an impeller.  They were offered under the Oasis, Cabrio, and Bravos labels.  Basically an enlarged F&P EcoSmart, the wash action is about the same, and even the operational sounds.

I'll hang out for a few days to see if anyone in the club purchased one of these giants. Have you seen one working? I do not remember a corkscrew dual action piece on this agitator, and am very interested in how the machine turns over the mountain of laundry it will wash.

I have a Whirlpool 6300 it is not my favorite washer. It washes fine but there should be another water level between small and medium. Also found more wrinkled clothing then my frontloader and one other concern, I found that the automatic water level was not always automatic. I found it tends to underfill

Just wondering what the agitation is like and if it spray rinses.

When I talked to the salesman 2 years ago, he said the then current model had a new agitator, something about the previous one not being as effective.

Will it take a giant load? Any cool moves?

Mine is 4 or 5 years old and I believe the only agitator model to have a glass lid.The agitation is a long stroke like the F&P models and all of the rinses are deep rinses. There is no option for a spray rinse as in the HE top loading washers manufactured by Whirlpool today. I am not sure but the later machines have a timed fabric softener dispenser, mine has the fabric softener mounted on the agitator. I believe that is why it sets in wrinkles as it goes into a high speed spin in all cycles to empty the dispenser for the final deep rinse

Thanks Ricky. I'm remembering Glenn's vids of the F&P with the really long stroke, 360 or more, long enough to sink a monster load. The high speed spins come out of a long tradition. Remember Ben's double rinsing Frigidaire WO 65? After the 1140 wash & first rinse spins, the water was already clear. Surprised that a machine this advanced and complex can't shoot out a spray or two. "Oh well...what da hell ya gonna do?"
