Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Air Sweeps, at least by the mid 60s had a switch to turn the feature on or off, depending on what was needed airflow-wise. This must be an earlier model. Gibson had a reputation in the refrigeration field as a good product. I do not know if it was deserved or if it was like Maytag's rep: just because they ran forever people liked them. The Georgia Power Company sold Gibson AC units as well as Westinghouse. Gibsons were expensive. Gibson, at least for a time, made window units for AMC which sold for much less. Our neighbors had an 18K AMC; cooled like a sumb*tch as the say down south.

Pete, while were on the topic of AC units, how's that house doing that's for sale in your neighborhood? Have you gotten inside it yet?

Hi Tom... the house is still for sale. The one across the street went up for sale afterwards and sold in a matter of 2 weeks or less so there has to be something about it why it's not selling. They've not had an open house either.

I remember back in the early 70's that Emerson, Quiet Kool a/c's also had an air sweep mechanism as well, behind the horizontal grill there was a corkscrew type baffle that slowly turned deflecting the air left to right. We sold a ton of those at the Woolco dept store I was working at that summer during a real bad hot spell. Especially around 9pm before the store closed at 10,  people would be filing in and carting them out. Pallet loads of them and they weren't all that cheap relatively speaking back then either like they are now.
