The climate would almost make the case for winter wash-ins in the south and summer ones up nawth, but it gets pretty hot up there during the summer also. Maybe Maine? I still want to get to that Stanley Steamer Museum. Now they have a winter museum in Texas, I think, but I would not want to caught dea... I mean I would rather go to Maine in the summer so that I could get some use out of my winter sweaters. We had some pretty cold and stormy winters from the late 70s to the early 90s, but there is an obvious trend to milder winters here, thank heaven with the cost of energy. I imagine that Atlanta's hot summers have something to do with how much more built-up the area is, but in the 50s and 60s, we would get about one hot spell per summer where the highs would be in the 90s for maybe 5 days. The rest of the time, the highs were in the 80s and, except during the heat waves, it cooled down to the upper 60s by morning. It is a thousand feet above sea level so we usually had a few cooling breezes at night, and downright cold winds in the winter.
