YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My DREAMIEST of DREAM machines is FINALLY here!!!!!!!!!!! You'll have the excuse the photo quality, my sister took my digital camera to Uraguay with her and hasn't returned yet so this was taken with my phone. I must say though, the dream-like haze in the photos is pretty much how I saw the machine myself! Here are the first pictures of the machines after the initial cleaning, all I had was Windex and paper towels!

Hey Jamie, congrats on your Unimatic!!! They're the coolest machines ever! I used Bon Ami to remove the rust inside the tub of mine, but I removed the pulsator first... I don't know if you'd wanna use it on the pulsator. Whatever you use, it's gonna need some elbow grease too!

Have you tried it out yet?? Make sure to update us if you do!

I've not yet tried the machine out, I have a couple of my muscular guy friends moving it to my mom's basment for me tomorrow around 2:00pm, after which, I will probably go to work with a tooth brush and some mild soap! Robert can definetly expect to be contacted tomorrow afternoon/early evening! I know there are some specific steps to follow before just turnig such a machine on, and first things first, I gotta get a new power cord!!! I thnk I have a Maytag power cord around here somewhere... Would that be blasphemy? lol

Jamie - she is beautiful! The original pulsator looks to be in great shape - with the cap even in place, and the lint chaser ring. Hopefully the mechanicals are sound and will work flawlessly.

Many many not believe in or support my practice, but I religously use Tuttle Wax Chrome Polish to clean up the porcelain finish on our washers. It has a very fine grit to it, and you can use the blue (not green) scratchy pads or a wash cloth. It has worked wonders on the many Maytag's and Frigidaire's I've cleaned over the years. It is the little bottle with the red cap. I've also used it to clean up hard water deposits - such as the outer tub top on a Kenmore/Whirlpool or Maytag using this and a blue scratchy pad.

I would first try a little bit of water on a cloth to see if you can get the residue off the pulsator column. Also, give that handle a good cleaning with some Chrome Polish as well - should clean up nicely.

Keep us posted in the results!

Ben

IRON OUT

Jamie,
Most hardwares stock Iron Out in both powder and spray, the spray would work great on the Pulsator column, Hey, where in AA are you, I get there occasionally, Pinconning is 112 miles north, like to show you my machines too!

Cleaning the machine

Hi! I use mothers gold paste wax for cars on all of my appliances, but make sure they are very clean. Its a carnuba wax. They will shine better than new and resist water marks. Bobby

Jamie, I am so very happy for you!! I know that you will work wonders with this beauty!! Please keep us posted as you move forward.

Thank you for the kind words and advice everyone!!! I'll be sure to keep a look out at home depot for iron out products and such! Quick question though, when, exactly, did Frigidaires become known as Bouncing Bettys? I ask because the WO-65 has come to be known as my Bouncing Betty among my friends and family, just curious if it's been named in the right time frame! lol
