I've done two restores of these beauties. Is this the original base? I did one that was hung on a wall bracket. amazing considering they weigh 400 pounds.
i beleive it is the original frigidaire base. my 91 year old aunt has one in IL. if im not mistaken the base has instead of shelves oven rack type shelving to store pots and pans, Her flair came with a new home in St. Louis and she had the matching fridge that quit in the 90's. In the original house in St. Louis she had all metal cabinets, the base of the stove you will notice has metal/chrome strips on the doors that kind of "matched all". I made breakfast Christmas morning on the flair the oven heated to 400 in less than 5 minutes. she commented the left front "speed heat" element had went bad a few years back, she had it repaired but the repair guy could not put the "speed heat" (wattage) back on the burner so now it is a regular infinite heat element. Of course it has been taken good care of for 50 years looks like new, the fridge that died off in the 90's had the flair design on the oven doors duplicated on the kickplate of the bottom freezer fridge, They were stunning together. I think all of us had one of those favorite Aunts that had the really cool stuff, probably the cause of our affliction arthur
But lining oven racks (especially gas ovens) with aluminum foil is a big no-no.
If one MUST do it at least leave an airspace around the sides.
In a gas oven it is also dangerous to close the holes in the oven bottom with ANY material. This is how the heat enters(by natural air-convection) and how poisonous gases make their way to the tiop of the oven where the vent is.
Thank you both for the info, i enjoy your posts toggleswitch, I thought you were much older given the range of your knowledge! I assume you are a professional? Have a great day, Matt.
