Good Morning America on Inauguration Day...!!!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yes,but not in the crowd itself but the parade staging area.My workplace building is in that area when I worked in Wash DC at the time.Had to get a special pass to allow me to go thru the area to my workplace(govt building)when I was in the buiding--could not open ANY windows or get up on the roof.Fortunately the equipment i am responsible for on the roof performed OK those days and didn't have to have access to it.the workplace I was in was right near the Mall.now I DON'T miss it.Like the quiet and solitude of the countryside better.and NO crowds.Makes it difficult to get in and out of work.Used to watch the 4th July fireworks from that buildings roof-was nice-you could see the people below leaving when the fireworks show was over.

Yes we can...

... get through this special day, hopefully, with everything going right. The world is watching us today. I wish the Obama's the very best. Even with the holiday's, it seemed like Inaugaration day, would never come. I am so proud to be an American today. alr2903

Expectations are soo high for Obama... I wish him all the best. I dont envy his responsibility right now. So many comparisons to MLK and soo many detractors waiting for him to trip up.

I'm very glad we're rid of Cheney&CO, but i'm also afraid of our economic trouble, and the continuing Israel conflict.

I'm rooting for you, Barack!

Today is

the last day of an awful era: A period of time when some Americans were, at best, worth 3/5 what other Americans were as humans.
An era when two people of different skin color were thrown in jail for daring to marry.
An era when people of different colors did not even dare to kiss or hold hands in public.
An era when being black automatically meant one's place in society was somewhere below the dogs.
What a wonderful day for the USA, today the last day of an era.

My wife and I were going to be there but I twisted my ankle and tore a tendon in it had to cancel. Was going to meet with 10 of my cousins we all had made plane reservations on Nov 6 th. I have 4 machines recording both DVD and VHS. I really wanted to go but Dr. said no way.

The real kicker of not getting to go is our High School band was invited to the parade the only one from Arkansas. Look for the Siloam Springs, Arkansas Panther Band.

Watching from Chicago

I'm already watching the festivities from home in Chicago. I took the day off of work. There would be no way I could concentrate on work an a day like this and so I'd be useless anyway.
Soooo much will change with Barack just taking the oath. Kids have a new hero. Global perception of USA will change. This is a really good thing.

I'm going to plant the new tree in my parking strip today.

It's a new beginning. Our new president faces huge challenges with a country in shambles after 8 years of corruption, greed, fiscal irresponsibility and inept leadership that promoted it. It is a huge mess to clean up and he will need our help. I'm ready to do my part.

1/20/09 is finally here! Yay!

Impressive!

Except for the 'poetry' and that bleeding asshole Warren, it was a beautiful inauguration.

Why oh why couldn't we have had someone recite Maya Angelou's work again? Or Walt Whitman? Or any other of the brilliant and fitting American poets?

I'm pushing 50 years old and I never remember such a grand funk in our country. I knew Bush/Cheney would be an unprecedented catastrophe for America, and so they were. They've left us demoralized and socialized. The wealthiest nation the world has ever seen, converted in just eight years into a nation of helpless, debt-drowned victims with hands outstretched for government help.

It's great to hear President Obama talk about personal responsibility, but the reality is, Democrat and Republican are simply the two wings of the Corporate Party. As long as we continue to embrace globalization, as long as China and a few other nations continue to play by a different set of rules than everyone else, things will continue to get worse. How is any country supposed to compete with $2/hour labor, with companies who pay no benefits to their employees and have no responsibility whatsoever to their environments? The simple truth is, no one can compete.

Democrats will seek to close some of these gaps, e.g. by changing our corporate tax code to make it less profitable for U.S. companies to export our jobs, but I think it's going to be too little too late. AIG gets bailed out, the rest of us will be subject to "market forces". It's socialism for the rich and capitalism for everyone else.

Pandora's box- full of hope.

I'm personally leery of the messianic fervor by which our new president is being embraced. No one person can fix it all, or ruin it all for that matter. May his eloquence continue to soothe all, and may his policies be even better. The gift of "gab" is lovely, but getting things done (right) is sweeter.

For all we know when he gets in again in 2012 (the end of the world "as we know it") all manner of hell may break loose. And that may be because of him or despite him. We jsut dont know.

Beware. The last time a populous was so enthralled by a hypnotic sweet-talker in grave economic times gave rise to Naziism.

All things in moderation. Even one's hopes, dreams and fears.

Think about every it, every time your boss hires a "super-star" that is going to fix it all, oh the excitement. Once a year goes by and the enthusiams wears off, one weaknesses become apparent.

I'm not convinced to ride to economic plentude will be so easy.

Four years ago--

I was not sure if this day would come.

I was only able to see a small part of the coverage, but I was able to see the parts I wanted to...the swearing-in of Vice President Biden, and the swearing-in of President Obama.

Yes, things are still very difficult for the great majority of people world-wide, and may continue for a (seemingly) long time, but for the first time in many years, I have hope in my country again.

Inclusion - even the nons

Ahhh, his speech was inclusive, Christians, Muslims, Jews and nons. Separation of church and state had such a good start a couple of hundred years sgo. Then it evolved into "if you are not a Christian, you need not apply." As a practicing non, just coming out of the closet, I still have hope.

well, lets add it up, the torture in Gitmo, the sky is falling rescue of the banks, trillions for the Iraq war, ( I don't regret one penny that might of saved the life of one of our brave service men/women). After the detainee's (sp) are out of Guintanamo, We might need additional prison space. after all Cheney said "its clean".
