Sunny and 74 today, a perfect day for moving washers around!  Jamie (Chromacolor) and I switched out the Pink Maytag washer and dryer he's had for a while now for a Filter-Flo GE and a Westinghouse "How Dry I Am" dryer.  He found the dryer a few years ago at a flea-market here in town and moved it in an ice-storm.  What we'll do for window-door appliances!  The seller had rigged a 110v extension cord for the machine to demonstrate the music-box at the market and other than that, it hadn't been tested.  We opened it up, cleaned and vacuumed out all the dust and lint (with a Hoover Spirit :-) and then plugged it in.  It worked perfectly and is in beautiful condition.  Jamie hangs out most of his wash so it still won't have a hard life.  The GE Filter-Flo is one I posted the other day with the messy filter pan, though it's all clean now.  I put a new clutch and re-built tranny in it and a top from Ben that is just beautiful in blue.

Greg,

Are my eyes deceiving me? The panel on that Filter-Flo indicates that it's a V-16, but that activator looks like a blue straight-8 a- spinning around in a "HEAVY DUTY 18" washbasket. Has this washer been prestidigitated?

Beautiful Westy!  The Ge and 'Tags are great too.  I had a Hoover twin tub in harvest gold, with a avocado green dryer when I lived in a tiny 4th floor apartment with only one washer and dryer in the basement, the pump went out shortly before I moved so I left it behind.

Jamie hangs out most of his wash so it still won't have

Yikes!!!  In this instance, I wouldn't blame him at all.  That dryer is beautiful.  BUT, it doesn't have a temperature knob on it, so looks like nothing but "normal" heat.  and as hot as those dryers were, I wouldn't want my thing baked to death!!!

Wow Greg, the GE and the Westy look right at home in Jamie's basement.  Now don't get me wrong these are very nice machines but for me they just don't have the "ZING" those beautiful pink Maytags have.  They look so pretty out in the sunshine.  Are there any lights on the GE?

I did the first load in the dryer tonight Bob, and was surprised it took an hour for it to get a large load of socks done,so maybe it's not as hot as I've heard, or mine might need a bit of work, but man.. that is one QUIET dryer.
Terry, I loved the Maytags, but I always missed that Filter-Flo I gave away. I guess it's more fun when you have a "Filter-HO" around. HA!
Greg put alot of work into the GE, which is good, because I realized my fat out of shape a** better quit smoking and actually get on the treadmill. The Maytag was a heavy lil sucker getting up my evil steps.

Thats the idea

Share & Share alike, I wonder how many miles all our appliances have done just for the fun of sharing & using them...LOl

The GE looks in great shape and I`m wondering just where the PANK tags are gonna end up in the laundry studio?? Has the Hoover twinnie been doing the rounds as well?? was it the one we used at the convention at yours??

Enjoy, Mike

Go West Young Man

Good weather for moving washers west!  Come on out and I'll have the spot all ready for the pink Maytags.

That V-16 GE top is from a machine in Ben's family put onto a 18 lb washer I found on Craigslist a year or more ago.  This is the pic that was on CL when I found it.  It was terribly dirty and unloved resulting in copious amounts of rust around the lid, top and, of course, outer tub.

Keep those lids UP !

You can see a bit of the top damage here, after cleaning all the glop away the water would slosh out of the rust-holes and all over the top during spin-drain.  Almost the whole left corner around the lid hinge was rusted away - the lint and schmeg was holding it together.
