Hi guys,
Well, today i ran my servis quartz through a cottons 40 degree wash washing my sons clothes and other whites Which was going just fine until the machine drained and went to go into the rinse. The light lit up for the rinse...but it did nothing. I left it for 3 or more minutes....nothing. So i stopped it and set to it a manual rinse & spin.....Nothing. I think my chances of parts are next to nothing here. The only good thing i can see other than 4 years of great servis ;-) is that i can replace it with something new.

Bad times.

Awwww Darren!

Thats such a shame. I really hope you can get it sorted. Those are such cool machines!

My local chip shop has a brown Quartz that they wash the aprons and stuff in. I've never seen a machine in such bad condition though, soooooo rusty!

I guess it would be a good excuse to find another great classic.

Would be sad to have to scrap it though :(

Servis

Dont give up just yet Darren, there might be spares about for this machine

Did it drain completely? another thing, is the water pressure sensor if the tube coming from the back of the drum to this becomes blocked so the pressure switch cannot switch back to the "empty" position the machine wont spin..........just a thought

Hey guys,
Hey matt, your right it would be a shame to scrap it but it couldn't stay and the logic is in need of much work i'm still tooing and froing over that one. But when i move and get my fully functioning plumbed out large shed i'll think it over some more. But it would be nice to be able to get 2 different machines!

Hey gary! It was just the distribution drain after the wash it recognised it had drained as the F5 code would've come up to say it hadn't drained within the given time and it progressed onto the light for rinse but made no electronic noises to give me any indication of progress. Just silence :-(

I know door seals and such are still kicking about for these and they use hoover motors. Its pretty cool inside with its seperate chassie so while it maybe be dancin around like a loon inside the outside is always as solid as a rock. Much like my zanussi:-)

Darren

Whooooaaaaa Darren!!!!

Please dont scrap it Darren.

I am no engineering expert, but try your hardest to identify the issue and let us all know.
See if someone can help!

A great aunt of mine got one of these when they first came out (circa 1985), replacing a Mk72 Compact.
Being the only 6030 that is owned by a collector, it should be given every chance.

If you do decide to call it a day with the machine, please let people know and see if anyone can take it off your hands (i'd be interseted!).
Please down give it to the council!

Paul

Hi paul!
Wonderful picture! I've not seen any quartz brochures before! Looks wonderful all shiney and new! Having spoken with an engineering friend, Appears we may have some lower control board failure :-( I've been advised to check all the connections out for corrotion. Hopefully that might work. It is a wonderful machine. And if i do get rid of it i will be very sad.

Darren

Hi Darren

So sorry you are having problems. I remember seeing that machine and noting how stable it was.

I know it's very tempting to get rid of things when they don't work but I think if your parents will let you keep it I would hold on to it for the time being.

She must be pushing 25 now?

Good luck whatever happens.

Servis Quartz

Hi Darren.

Sorry to hear about your Servis Quartz. My mum had the 600 model, but she had loads of trouble with it.

Have you tried www.spares2go.co.uk they might stock any parts for your machine.

Found a web site about error codes on old Servis Quartz washers,

F1 Water temperature circuit faulty
F2 Too long to fill
F3 Water not pumped out properly
F4 Motor fault
F5 Heater circuit fault
F7 Motor fault

Hope you fnd the information helpfull

Regards

Paul

Hi guys!
Rob!!!! how are you! We must chat soon it's been ages!
Yes the old dear is the most mature of my collection!!!
I am keen to fix it but with it being electronic i worry i won't be able too! Though heres hoping the advice an engineer friend told me i will check the connections for any loose wires etc I will take a look this weekend when i have some time!!!

Paul I bought a manual on ebay for the 600series though it's not my model the quartz control and options are much the same! Thank you for the information though! I had paniced when i had an F3 fault code flash up only to realise the temporary plumbing i had going on, the hose was too high lol.

I will keep you all informed.

Darren

dont dump it!

hey hey,i have a quartz(well 2)its a bit rusty and the seal is goin havent used it but ur welcome to the boards if ya waant,im sure we could arange postage,at the moment im back out working for myself sub contracting for whirlpool ireland s havent much time for my collection with all the premature bearing failures on the awo/d 4405's,any way your more than welcome to them,

Mark,
If necessary that would be wonderful. I didn't have much time to check it out which i will do on the weekend. If you would be good enough to do that for me i would be in your debt for a long time!!

Darren

She lives.........!

It's true. Having had more than 2 seconds to look at the machine i've seen that i made an error. As all my machines hooked to up to temporary plumbing, i had forgotten that i had switched the cold fill house from the quartz and put it on another machine. What a school boy error lol. Glad to say it was my fault and that the machine can continue rumbling away!!!

phew! What an idiot i am. However in my defence, i was wrapping up my last load as we had to go elsewhere in a rush. So i just swapped the load into the zanussi and said i would investigate another day. lol. I can't wait to get my full fitted plumbing shed.

Ooopsee.

lol.

Darren

Phew indeed!

great stuff darren.

really really pleased that, as it turned out, all was well with the old girl.

and relax!

Servis

Oh thank goodness you still have it Darren!!! I read the first part and thought Oh No!!! Dont worry about missing the obvious we`ve all done it, glad to hear the old girl is back in action, this was also a lovely colourway I think, and the Billie Elliot movie confirms that with the add on the side of the house with the Servis Genie in the background!!!

Enjoy, Mike

Good News

Argh Darren a result :-)............now if Servis had incorperated an error code for cold tap not on etc, then you would have got it straight away ;-).........sort of ironic really.

Good News anyway
