Goodbye Stainless

I love the look of Whirlpool's "white ice" line. Wonder if it's selling well?

My kitchen appliances are stainless steel and I certainly empathize with those who have come to despise it because of the upkeep. I strongly recommend Weiman Stainless Steel wipes. Lay one open flat in the palm of your hand, wipe the appliance, then buff with a soft cloth. There's no mess and it's far easier than using sprays/creams/ baby oil to clean stainless steel.[this post was last edited: 7/27/2013-10:08]

Black Ice

I saw the white/black ice on display at the local showroom. Not terribly impressed. The black shows fingerprints as much as stainless steel. Plus, these are not the TOL models. More mid-range like the GE's are releasing soon.

I expect that stainless steel will be hanging around a while longer...

The other day at Costco they had a small display of the white ice appliances. I checked the dishwasher; it had a plastic interior instead of stainless, which I always attribute to a middle- or lower-level in a product lineup.

The brushed chrome or stainless handles on the outside look attractive. I hope that trend extends to all white appliances. It looks nice to have some visual contrast.

I suppose I'd describe the white ice appliances I saw as having more of a satin finish than a matte finish. It wasn't shiny, and didn't reflect much light, but it felt smooth and like it would be easy to clean. I didn't see fingerprints, and as display units in Costco, you know they were getting pawed constantly.
