Goose Pimply Mixer Find

Heading home from the gym this morning I re routed almost magically across town to the Habitat for Humanity Restore. It's called the "twingle" which is somewhat akin "gaydar" when you have that feeling there's something good to be found. So I walk in the front doors and on a table sits this 50 or 60 gal aquarium with all the accessories, quality filter etc. and so over I went to look. I've been sort of see sawing back and forth about setting up another tank and this looked good and the price was certainly right. BUT then I glance over and lo and behold what's sitting there but a Braun KM32 Mixer in a box with the blender, juicer, slicer/shredder, blades big and small bowl, blade holder, pretty much complete. AND in pretty clean working condition, no yellowing as they're prone to..
So much for my will-power about not buying anymore stuff, not when it's stuff like this.. I love these mixers design albeit they're not really heavy duty.

That is one of the best kitchen machines ever built. I have the original and this model both at home in Germany.

Loud But Good

The mixer is a tad slow but I really like the dough hook. Attachments are okay but the mixer is loud on high speed. I saw one on ebay with bidds taking it past $250.00. Might as well make some them dough.

Slow?

There are two insert points for the attachments. One is very slow (kneading heaviest doughs, stuff which tends to fly out all over the place) and one is faster. Try the faster one at speed three, that one whips cream in "null-komma-nichts". If it doesn't, then perhaps a condenser has failed (cheap, easy repair) or the switch is off. That momentary setting to the left runs at highest speed, by the by.

Pete you do find the best things!! Have never seen anything like that around here at a sale or thrift shop. Now you have to make something to test it out!

What a wonderful find! Ofcourse you had to buy this. I agree that the mixer is a bit slow. I think it is caused by the mixing system, a planetary system is faster. The blender is wonderful, even though there is only 400 Watts available it blends great!

The Braun KM32 is sort of a design icon. Some people overhere buy one to have it on display in the kitchen although they don't use it.

hey Pete, congrats!

Had been working for Braun for several years repairing these (especially the gearboxes).

In case your baby should need a repair or adjustment in the far, far future, I'll be happy to help out before you phone some expensive parts dealer.

If you are interested in the matching coffee grinder attachment (acually this was shipped as an extra for the KM3 and KM31 series, but it will fit your machine as well). I have one around and I would swap it for some small Waring blender parts such as seal rings and blades (which are almost impossible to obtain over here).

Great find..

...a friend here who collects series 1 Kenwood Chefs and coloured mixmasters bought one off ebay a couple of years ago...

..unfortunately, the numpty he bought it off in Brisbane failed to pack it properly and it was broken (shattered) through poor packing and Australia Post dropping the box....

He hasn't seen one since...

For years these mixers never show up and then all of a sudden I've found what 3 over the last year or so and the Nutones. I did sell one on ebay a few years ago.. got a nice price for it too.

Helps offset the cost of "collecting" lol

Kelly you know it is a fun hobby but it's always more fun sharing it with others.. Too bad this internet was invented back when I was living in Vancouver 2 hrs away instead of 2000 mi away now. LOL
