Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I'm apparently living in the wrong part of the country because Arizona seems to have some great stuff (along with the mid-west) which also seems to be laden with well cared for appliances.

IIRC,  that is the same door handle that is on the "Cyclamatic".   Nice Freezer. ALR

Jason, re; Arizona...

I think a lot of it has to do with the HUGE influx of people to AZ in the 50s and 60s. A lot had plenty of money for lux goods back then, and a great deal of people only live here seasonally. Helps with keeping the items from being worn out/overuses/abused.

Those people who bought these appliances new would be in their 80s/90s by now and have all died off...or are about to...so of course their survivors have zero interest in the bulk of these things...

The silver lining Jason,

Is that people like us don't give 2 shites about new and shiny so that means we get the good vintage and love it. And our wallets are fatter for it :)

This is true. Mostly. The wallet is usually fatter for a short time. Then I hit the thrift store.

You are my evil twin....

I LIVE for those places. Luckily, I made decent $$ from my finds :) Going shopping again tomorrow, in fact.
Hope for me that I don't find another subzero, please.

We have a really good thrift store here where I tend to get most of my stuff.  I'm overdue to thin the herd though.  I have 3 blenders, 1 of which has never been used.  I think I paid $15 for all 3.  I also have a burgeoning collection of toasters and waffle makers.  And vacuums.

Jason...we cannot ever meet.

You sound as bad as me. It is so bad here that I literally spent from midnite to 6am unearthing things in my dining room to donate. I have a huge GMC truck and the bed is FULL. Trying to make room for the SubZero.
Probably could make two more equal sized loads and still be buried...VACUUMS?? Do you share my Kirby fetish??? (And Electrolux and...Panasonic JetFlo 1980s models)

I like Kirbys, but I'm keeping the vaccuum obsession in check for now (plus they tend to go for a bit in this area).  I have 2 Hoovers and an Electrolux Model G.  The Electrolux is sadly a parts machine at this point, as I don't have the time or skill to try to bring it back (it had been stored in a barn for quite a number of years).  I had an Electrolux Silverado, but gave that to a family member.

Electroluxes aplenty here....

If you need anything...yours. Cost of Parcel Post shipping is all you'd be out. Can't quote exactly which models I have here...but will know circa weekend when I have everything pulled out to view. There is NO junk.

Good to know; thank you for the offer!  I may be inheriting another Electrolux in the near future.  A friend of mine has his eyes set on a Golden Jubilee.  If he gets it, he may give me his 1205.  If he gives me the 1205, I will be one happy camper!

The Hoovers are good for now; the Dial-a-Matic bags can be tricky to find around here, but I have a monstrous hoard of about 60.  I got them dirt cheap.  The vacuum was free too because our friend's in-laws didn't like the 'orange vaccuum'.  The thing's awesome.

I don't have pictures of the Model G, but I have my before and after shots of the Silverado.   The thing had been in a barn for 10 years.  It cleaned up pretty well.  I wanted to keep it, but I'm trying to keep the collections in check.

ORANGE!!!

My favourite colour. I'm with you--that is NICE. Like I say...if you need electlx bags...I've got 'em. Most of the Electrolux bodies are Exc/+ condition. I recently bought a brand new/never used/in box LUX for $35....all hoses, accessories, etc. Sold it on ebay for around $460. YAY!
